I have been running since 2013. I have always packed. I have always stayed ready for anything, man, beast, or accidents. No headphones EVER outside. Always alert, with a big dog always, have pepper/bear spray, and of course hollow points locked and locked with one in the chamber and 6 in the clip. I practice my firing accuracy on a regular basis. But lately even before the recent tragedies in the running community, I haven’t been consealing, I am OPEN carrying when I am out running now.

Now after the recent tragedy with Eliza it breaks my heart that her babies don’t have a mama after she didn’t come home from a run. I will never NOT go for a run just because I am too scared of evil people. Evil is all around us, but having your life put into Gods hands and ACTIVELY protecting yourself makes facing the dark streets and roads alone. Because it’s 100% OKAY and actually really badass to go running at 4:30am! YOU DO YOU AND FU***NG PROTECT AND FIGHT LIKE HELL! Prayers to every single runner, walker, jogger, bicyclist, anyone out there that gets their natural high and therapy from getting the miles in.

If you are not familiar with guns and want more protection for you and your family, reach out to a local shooting range and ask for classes and information.

I absolutely LOVE and NEED a good stretch! So when regular stretching at home isn’t cutting it for me, I book a class at Free Spirit Yoga and Trapeze and get that decompression of my spine AND mind 🧠

Meditation incorporated into my practice is SO helpful to unwind the mind, recharge the brain and soul, and prepare yourself for whatever lies ahead.

Pregnancy + wellness = one healthy mama & baby

Staying active during pregnancy can help make your pregnancy a lot easier — and it can even make your labor shorter and recovery faster. Getting active during pregnancy may also make it less likely you'll have complications like: Gestational diabetes (a type of diabetes that happens during pregnancy)
During pregnancy, exercise can:
* Reduce backaches, constipation, bloating and swelling.
* Boost your mood and energy levels.
* Help you sleep better.
* Prevent excess weight gain.
* Promote muscle tone, strength and endurance.
* May decrease your risk of gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, and cesarean delivery.
* Promotes healthy weight gain during pregnancy.
* Improves your overall general fitness and strengthens your heart and blood vessels.

These activities usually are safe during pregnancy:
* Walking. Taking a brisk walk is a great workout that doesn't strain your joints and muscles.
* Swimming and water workouts.
* Riding a stationary bike.
* Yoga and Pilates classes.
* Low-impact aerobics classes.
* Strength training.
* Hiking.

Prenatal yoga, hatha yoga and restorative yoga are great choices for pregnant women. They literally calm the body and mind, and therefore helps baby relax and learn to relax. Talk to the instructor about your pregnancy before starting any yoga class. Be careful to avoid hot yoga, which involves doing vigorous poses in a room heated to higher temperatures.

Nutrition. Eating a nutritious diet during pregnancy is linked to good brain development and a healthy birth weight, and can reduce the risk of many birth defects. A balanced diet will also reduce the risks of anemia, as well as other unpleasant pregnancy symptoms such as fatigue and morning sickness.

Consume foods and beverages rich in folate, iron, calcium, and protein. Talk with your health care professional about prenatal supplements (vitamins you may take while pregnant). Eat breakfast every day. Eat foods high in fiber, and drink fluids (particularly water) to avoid constipation.

Foods rich in folic acid include lentils, kidney beans, green leafy vegetables (spinach, romaine lettuce, kale, and broccoli), citrus fruits, nuts and beans. Folic acid is also added as a supplement to certain foods such as fortified breads, cereal, pasta, rice, and flours.

The bottom line
* Get moving.
* Eat healthy foods.
* Take a daily prenatal vitamin
* Stay hydrated.
* Go to your prenatal care checkups.
* Avoid certain foods such as: -High mercury fish, undercooked or raw fish, undercooked, raw, and processed meat such as: -lunch meat and hot dogs, (make sure they are cooked or microwaved till hot), raw eggs, caffeine, and unpasteurized (raw) milk products.
* Don't drink alcohol.
* Don't smoke.
* Get a prenatal massage (they work wonders for swelling, relieves lower back pain and other aches and pains associated with pregnancy, improves sleep, prepares your body for labor, improves range of motion, and teaches baby to relax by sensing mama relaxing. (Baby feels what mama feels).

✨ How to survive being sober in a world & society that revolves around alcohol & other substances ✨

Well first off, technically it’s not ‘surviving’ for me anymore… it’s THRIVING and LIVING MORE than I have ever in my entire life! When you choose health and choose REALITY over substances that ALTER your brain activity, it’s so empowering and you get on a next level of accomplishing MIND OVER MATTER!

Yes, at first it’s NOT easy, it wasn’t for me by ANY means. There is cultural traditions, people thinking and telling you your acting like your ‘too good to drink’, people making you feel bad for letting them be the only drinkers or ‘leave them hanging’, guilt trips, and plain old people being confused or saying “where’s the old you” BUT DON’T LET IT BREAK YOU! You’re choosing YOURSELF and YOUR GOALS over short term ‘fun’ or ‘happiness’ or an ‘escape’. Trust me I’ve had my fun drunk crazy memories. But NOTHING compares to the FUN and memorable achievements I’ve been able to achieve THROUGH sobriety.

Through sobriety, I’ve not just ‘found’ myself, I’ve BUILT a whole new self. Since 2013 I have slowly tapered down on drinking, first going 3 months straight then after that I hardly wanted it again, then after that I was a ‘social’ or ‘occasional’ drinker, but I eventually learned that drinking was holding my MINDSET back and was STEALING the day after going out because of feeling less motivated (even the slightest hangover KILLS productivity) so after my first born I got to the point where I was going over a year without alcohol and I LOVE the concept of streaks and accountability of my own actions. Eventually, I had my LAST DRINK Aug 2018 on my 10 year class reunion, prior to that I had went over a year without alcohol and was super proud but I was handed one and I had just that ONE and I literally felt like it WASN’T WORTH IT! Didn’t get me drunk, didn’t feel fire works, didn’t make the night ANY funner. Now I make and create my own damn fun and memories. I can show up and own a damn room and alcohol DOES NOT MAKE ME, ME. I remember every part of the night, I FEEL and look BETTER and YOUNGER than when I was drinking.

I hope I can inspire some of you.

Tea remedies that are game changers.

Everyone has heard the typical tea is good for flu season and so on… but did you know certain teas can help many more conditions? Studies have found that some teas may help with cancer, heart disease, and diabetes, encourage weight loss, lower cholesterol, and bring about mental alertness. Tea also appears to have antimicrobial qualities.

Tea also contains polyphenols, which are a type of antioxidant. These help to protect cells in your body from damage and even promote healing at a cellular level. Antioxidants may lower your odds of getting heart or blood vessel diseases.

Numerous studies have shown that a variety of teas may boost your immune system, fight off inflammation, and even ward off cancer and heart disease. While some brews provide more health advantages than others, there's plenty of evidence that regularly drinking tea can have a lasting impact on your wellness.

Steeping and brewing tea are the key parts of the same process - making tea. On the other hand, steeping tea is the process that is involved. ... Brewing the best tasting cup of tea includes carefully steeping tea bags or loose tea leaves in heated water.

Well which ones are the best ones? From green tea to hibiscus, from white tea to chamomile, teas are chock full of flavonoids and other healthy goodies.
Technically green tea is not an herbal tea since it is made with tea leaves. It just has a different process than standard teas.

Oolong tea is a traditional Chinese tea variety that's made from the same plant used to make green and black teas. The difference is how the tea is processed.
