Basic Life Support Consultancy Basic Life Support Consultancy is a training company based in Mildenhall offering first aid training to Industry, Commerce and Care.

Our training and assessing in all types of first aid is by experienced health professionals, we can therefore make the courses relevant to the needs of your workplace and our aim is to ensure candidates have the confidence to apply their first aid training in the workplace. My name is Emma Murrow, Steve Murrow and I took over Basic Life Support Consultancy in January 2016 from Anne Gilbert and Paul Goodchild. Steve has been a First Aid trainer for over 20 years. He has also been running a small company providing both first aid and fire training for the same time. He is a serving Paramedic and responds in his own time for the charity Suffolk Accident Rescue Service as an extended skills Paramedic. I was a front line Firefighter for the Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service for 14 years and left in a recent round of redundancies. I run the administrative side of things, although I am only in the office for 2 days a week so please bear with me when trying to contact us. I will get back to you as soon as I can. Steve, and his team of healthcare professionals deliver all of our training

Dear All,

We hope that you have all had a happy and healthy Christmas and New Year!

Here at Basic Life Support Consultancy, we have 4 trainers that deliver our first aid courses, of those 4 trainers 3 of us are also front-line medics. I am a Paramedic working for our local Ambulance Trust and responding from home for the charity Suffolk Accident Rescue Service. Having spoken with my colleagues about the situations they are facing and following the Government’s announcement on Monday. We as a company have decided to cancel some of our upcoming open first aid training courses.

This is not in keeping with our Governing Bodies advice, they believe that with the measures we have in place we are safe to continue, we do not feel comfortable with this advice given the current state of our A&E’s, a huge percentage of admissions are now COVID-19 patients, this new variant is obviously so much more transmissible.

With everybody being told to work from home where possible, to only travel when necessary and the schools being closed to most of the population it seems wrong to bring a group of people together for open training, we are still happy to come into a workplace and train for a single employer.

We are therefore cancelling the following courses

First Aid at Work – 3-day 13th – 15th January

Paediatric First Aid – Bury St. Edmunds 23rd & 30th January

Emergency First Aid at Work 29th January

Paediatric First Aid – Haverhill 6th & 13th February

Emergency First Aid at Work 24th February

First Aid at Work Requalification – 2 day 24th & 25th February

I hope you can understand. If you have any queries, please let me or Emma know.

Stay safe!

Steve Murrow

Steve's post on Facebook recently 'Those that know me have commented how I often don't get affected doing my job.
Did a resus today, getting the husband to kiss and hold his wife as we loaded her into the ambulance alive but critical.
Seeing his tears roll down his face, listening to his last words to her broke my heart.
She, on arrival to hospital gave up her fight. The team working hard to get her back unsuccessful. I now know that poor man is going to get the worst news ever in his life.
My message here is, that man could be you, the people ignoring the advice given to stay in. I feel broken today 😢'
