Yesterday we shared a bit about the growth of the edible cannabis product market and their appeal to kids. Other than alcohol, cannabis is the most widely used drug among youth today and is more potent than ever before. The chances of our kids encountering cannabis or seeing it promoted in the community and their social media feeds has increased. That's why we're sharing with you some tips for how to start and have these critical conversations with your kids and included some links to helpful resources. This April 26th people across the USA will make their homes a safer place by properly disposing of expired or unneeded medications at police station collection sites. Safely disposing of medications reduces the risk of of accidental or intentional misuse by children and adults, reduces risk to pets, and keeps our water systems cleaner.

Vermont is a national leader in reducing barriers to collection by going beyond police stations and requiring that pharmacies operating 10+ locations in the USA must offer an in-store disposal options. Many smaller, locally-owned pharmacies also opted-in to provide this service to the communities they serve.

The Vermont Department of Health also offers a convenient mail-back option. Request a free envelope to be mailed to you or a loved one at healthvermont.gov/doyourpart
