🙌🏼🤘🏽🙌🏼🤘🏽who’s with me in this?? Women are exposed on average 168 chemicals EVERYDAY! These are potentially Endocrine Disturbing Chemicals (EDCs) which can change, lower and raise our own hormones leading to many conditions and unwanted symptoms.

Since 1970s over 87,000 chemicals have been approved for use but only a 1/3 tested and 500 have been linked to cancer. A lot of these chemicals are found in our Cosmetics, home cleansers, food and water. These often contain parabens or phthalates, which have been linked to breast cancer, obesity, infertility, and asthma.

In this regard, it is ideal to adopt the Precautionary Principle: until a chemical is found to be harmless, try to avoid exposure. The precautionary principle encourages maintaining awareness of what you are putting on and in your body and taking steps to avoid unnecessarily exposing yourself to toxins in your household and environment.

Not having an appetite in the morning is NOT a good thing.⁠ When we wake without an appetite this usually indicates a weak stomach and digestion.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's definitely something that we should be working to fix and NOT something we want to cater to.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our body has been fasting since our last meal or snack. 10, 12, 14 hours goes by- we should be HUNGRY.⁠ Our digestive system and stomach are at its peak energy between 7am - 9am. This is when we should be giving our stomach and metabolism the fuel it needs to jump start the day.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Also a healthy liver can hold enough stored glucose (glycogen) for about 8-10 hours until it has to start tapping into other means of fuel (like burning our muscle as fuel... and who wants that right?)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If our appetite is non-existent in the morning, we can pretty much assume, we've already been making our own fuel using other means for a couple of hours.⁠ Which means we've again put our body in 'starvation mode' and it holds onto fat.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Hello belly fat. Hello suppressed metabolism. Hello hormone issues.⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So if you are waking up and working out on an empty stomach you can sure as heck assume that your body is burning your muscle as source for energy before it starts to burn stored fat.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A little protein and carb before bed usually helps this:⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💫 2 soft boiled eggs and a cup of blueberries⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

And regardless of how we feel, we should be eating within 30-60 minutes of waking to provide our body with fuel. Eventually, hunger will come back.

Above all Tired Types are....tired💤

They most likely have been diagnosed with a metabolic disorder.
Tired types struggle with a sluggish metabolism, and gain weight easily.
It’s also very common to have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism. They feel cold all the time, need a lot of sleep and crave carbohydrates.

They might have also been diagnosed with low progesterone levels or LPD. Tired types struggle with low libido.

Their experience spotting before my period starts. And when her period comes it is heavy but short; it seems to come all at once.

In Chinese Medicine tired types would be diagnosed with Yang deficiency, in part because they are qi deficient. (Qi, sometimes described as life force or energy, isn’t a specific physical thing.)

Our main goal is to improve digestion and metabolism, especially as they affect your hormones.

Most of the time tired women try to eat less and exercise more in order to shed the stubborn weight... this just leaves them more tired and burnt out.

If this rings home with you, then it might be time to switch things up and treat the root cause of your imbalance. This is exactly where I work closely with my clients and create a roadmap for them back to health & feeling good again. Because you deserve to feel good again! Throughout my life, I had the problem of letting negative chatter cloud my head. It held me back from achieving the career and life goals I wanted with destructive thoughts like these: “You aren’t good enough to be here. You have aren’t as good or fit as her. You have no chance. You are just a small island girl and you don’t belong on this big stage.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Before I even started coaching, I talked myself out of success. What a stupid thing to do after all the effort and dedication I put into training and education. I knew this negativity was completely defeating, but I wasn’t sure how to stop it. How could I stop the terrible thoughts living in my head?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One of the 4 pillars I now teach my coaches is personal development. Through a personal development books and seminars I have learned how important positive self talk is. Instead of focussing on the reasons why I wasn’t good enough, I focus on one positive reason and one thought at a time to motivate me to continue toward my goal.

Every time I started that dialogue in my head about not being good enough to help others, I’d refocus on something positive. One thought at a time.

I kept telling myself these little positive nuggets day in and day out. One by one, my limiting beliefs dropped, my business grew and my dreams manifest into reality and positive self talk made it possible.

Nutrition can feel overwhelming. There are so many nutritional theories out there.
Every time you turn on the TV they are talking about the latest diet trend out there, pick up a health magazine that has the latest 5 new tips or the detox you should be on doing and you start bouncing around and w**d through the info.

Nothings really working or something starts to work but you’re not really sure because you’re doing so many different things. You then either quit or know what to keep or what to get rid of and you get confused.

There isn’t one specific way of eating that works for everyone and every body. There’s lots of nutritional theories out there. What is one persons food could be another persons poison. Like eggs can cause some peoples system to react and cause inflammation, some one else it’s a perfect protein.
BUT there are 3 main principles that can and do work if you follow them.

1. Portion control
2. Balanced macro nutrients (lean protein, healthy carbs, healthy fats) need them in balance
3. Removing or eliminating processed foods and sugars. (Replace with whole foods)🍑🍇🥭🍓🍍🥥

Eliminating “fake” food and replacing it with healthy whole food ingredients. Yes you can still have things like wine, cookies and brownies but made with real nutrient dense ingredients in the right portions.

I don’t believe in eliminating something completely from your diet, UNLESS you need it for a specific medical reason and to be used it in a therapeutic way.

Hey-yooooo🎼⚡️. You know what held me back for years from getting results with my nutrition and fitness? NOT knowing EXACTLY what to do🙅🏼‍♀️.
You see, i studied Chinese Medicine and acupuncture, NOT macros and weight lifting. But you know what changed the game for me?⚡️👇🏻
That 60 day home fitness challenge i enrolled for five years back! Because after my first 60 days i bit off the next 30, then the next, & the next. And while life happened in the in-between {set backs, surgeries, accidents, injuries, indulgent vacations, holidays, etc}, what also happened was my consistency to our programs & witnessing my body & habits change.
So here i am today, Day 2 of my 21 mbf commitment & I’m really freaking happy that i went all in on that 60 day challenge 5 years back and never quit on myself or stopped sticking to it🙌🏻.

Our adventure might have been cancelled this year but I think this will do just fine 🌲✨ 🏔

The breathtaking view of Myra falls in Strathcona park reminds me that you don’t have to go far to see extraordinary beauty when you live in 🗺 This glacier fed falls is a much easier hike than the Havasupai trail but I can wait till we get there next June! Only 333 days to train for the 24 mile hike adventure.

Now that we are exploring our home towns and near by excursions, what are your summer adventures looking like!? Our next trip is to Sproat lake and the Okanagan🌲🌵☀️

Some one pass me a pinch of gravel and a cup of air? Many women complain to me that they can't seem to shed the stubborn weight even though they are eating less and exercising more.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So the first question I ask is "What did you eat today so far?"⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Many of the answers go like:⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🍉 I rolled out of bed and into my day⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🍉 Went to the kitchen and grabbed a cup of coffee⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🍉 Went about my stressful morning like a chicken with my head cut off⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

If we want our body to function well, we have to fuel it well. We don't put a couple drops of gasoline in a Ferrari.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Full tank of gas- always.⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I think I’ve found the key to energy✨... well it’s only been 1 day and 1 cup of and I feel amazing!

I’ve decided to modify traditional Intermittent Fasting (IF) with a bulletproof coffee flare to start the day. IF can have an effect on women and our hormonal balance if you put too much stress on the body.

I’ve chosen to utilize the Bulletproof Intermittent Fasting method because it’s easier on the body than traditional IF, for the simple fact that it’s wasteful to apply more stress to the body than is needed to make a change.

Bulletproof IF is a simple way for both women and men to realize the benefits of intermittent fasting without the health risks.

Instead of going 18 hours without food, you have a Bulletproof Coffee in the morning for breakfast with no carbs or protein. (Check out my stories for ingredients). This BIF method is a satisfying, low-toxin coffee that doesn’t cause adrenal stress the way most coffee does, and it tastes like a creamy latte.

Bulletproof IF also doesn’t signal that you’re in a famine and should shut down your fertility. In contrast, it sends the signal, “You are in a land of plenty, with an environment full of the types of fat that make for optimally healthy babies. Be fertile! Have babies!”

Chances are, you want the features associated with fertility and vitality, whether you’re ready for babies or not. You want your physiology to send out the signal that you are well-nourished and capable of producing strong offspring. This translates to attractive features:
* Shiny hair
* Radiant skin
* Healthy libido
* Proper weight
* Energetic demeanour

I sure do! And I have to say I might have partaked in it too...

Literally in the early 90’s, food with little or no fat were flying off the shelves. Contrary to what we’ve been told by the diet culture and some shady science (hello biased research studies), our society now suffers from Fatphobia. A fear that has gotten us into a real pickle with our health.

Real talk: Fats are our BFFs 🥥🥑

Not to mention, healthy fats do something amazing for us females: BUILD OUR HORMONES. Fat intake keeps our cells healthy and pliable and reduces inflammation.

They are the secret key to anti-aging, better hair, skin and nails, energy, high libido, better metabolism, more energy and easy periods.

Hello 🙋🏼‍♀️ yes please... pass me the avocado, salmon, nuts - seriously my go-to Energy bites!

Admittedly, I remember buying margarine over butter and non-fat treats.. so glad those days are gone! Fat is so tasty and gives us the energy to bust out our To-do list without the afternoon energy crash.

Post-lunch Slump 💤 There are two fuels your body can use, sugar and fat. The sad reality is that our ancestors were adapted to using fat as their primary fuel and over 99 percent of us are now adapted to using sugar or glucose as our number one fuel source.

Because most are primarily burning carbs as fuel, afternoon fatigue is typically related to post-lunch hypoglycemia. By switching your body from using carbs as its primary fuel to burning fats instead, or becoming "fat adapted," you virtually eliminate such drops in energy levels. Overall, being adapted to burning fat instead of sugars has a number of benefits, including:

☀️Having plenty of accessible energy on hand, as you effectively burn stored fat for energy throughout the day — One way to tell if you're fat adapted or not is to take note of how you feel when you skip a meal. If you can skip meals without getting ravenous and cranky (or craving carbs), you're likely fat-adapted.

⚡️ Improved insulin and leptin sensitivity and decreased risk of virtually every known chronic degenerative disease.

🤸🏼‍♀️ Effectively burn dietary fat for your energy, which leads to less dietary fat being stored in your adipose tissue—hence the weight loss benefits associated with fat adaptation.

🏃🏼‍♀️Being able to rely more on fat for energy during exertion, sparing glycogen for when you really need it. This can improve athletic performance, and helps burn more body fat.

🤦🏼‍♀️ Why Stress makes us More Tired 💆🏼‍♀️⠀

When we get stressed the body takes blood flow away from peripheral organs – such as skin – to provide muscles with energy. This makes us look and feel tired.⠀

The stress response also has a knock-on effect on the kidneys – the energy batteries of our body. If not allowed to rest, they will in turn get stressed. This contributes to deterioration and general lowering of energy levels.⠀

Fatigue is a sign of imbalance within your body. Strengthening the organs which are weak and need support will help restore that balance. We need to boost your energy levels in exactly the same way we’d eat to satisfy hunger pangs.⠀

The energy that fuels your body comes from the food you eat and the air you breathe. If those processes are not working well, you’ll become low on energy. Poor digestion often makes you feel tired right after meals, because your body is diverting all your energy into digesting what you’ve eaten.⠀

So proper breathing, digestion and good energy flow around the body are all crucial to keep your energy levels up. Most of us can’t go off and lie down in an office (like in countries like Italy and Asia where they recognize the importance of this!)⠀

Here’s 3️⃣ revitalizing rituals that you can practice anywhere and anytime to help your body’s energy levels.⠀

1. Switch your afternoon coffee for decaf and take a 10 minute walk around the block.⠀

2. Sit in the sunshine for 5 minutes, close your eyes and take in 12 deep inhales and exhales counting to 5 seconds for each.⠀

3. Start your day with a Liver Qi Morning Tonic: 1 cup water + 1⁄2 tsp MSM powder (work up to 1 tsp) + Juice from 1⁄/2 lemon + 2 tsp unpasteurized apple cider vinegar. Mix together and drink first thing.⠀
