🧋✨ Therapist Spotlight: Maddi Peyton, LSW

Maddi loves to work with kids, teens, and adults across the board, but really enjoys working with individuals struggling with identity and life transitions. High school struggles? Social anxiety? Coming of age or self-esteem worries? Maddi is your girl!

She also loves working with folx in the q***r community and BIPOC communities. In her own words, "I believe that our identities play an integral role in our mental health and how we interact with the world, as well as how the world interacts with us." She uses person-centered therapy, CBT, and mindfullness to connect with her clients and act as a guide on their healing journey.

Outside of the therapy office, you'll find Maddi at her local coffee shop or exploring the outdoors, whether that's on a bike or hiking with her own two feet. On rainy days, a movie or book will keep her company too.

Sound like someone up your alley? Maddi is now accepting clients at our Old Irving Park location! Link in bio to schedule.

Wellness Wednesday!

We all juggle stress every day. Whether that comes from work, relationships, family, or life challenges, it can feel overwhelming to worry day after day after day.

In this social media age, access to more news and sensationalist headlines can dump even more worries onto the pile we already carry. Rather than doom-scrolling each time, try to do a quick self-check-in and see if you can pull yourself out of the anxiety spiral.

Anxiety is more common than you think, and it's okay if you need help to manage it. Looking for some support? Contact our Intake team at the link in our bio for scheduling!

🌟 CEU Sunday: Recognizing and Addressing Perinatal Mood Disorders in Therapy 🌟

Join Amy Johnston, LCSW, PMH-C for a one-hour course designed to equip clinicians with the skills to recognize, support, and refer clients experiencing PMADs. This webinar will help you:

✔️ Identify symptoms, triggers, and risk factors for PMADs.
✔️ Learn to use two screening tools effectively.
✔️ Explore evidence-based approaches for treatment.
✔️ Strengthen your ability to connect clients with the right resources and support.

🕒 Earn 1 CE Hour while expanding your capacity to support clients through the unique challenges of pregnancy and postpartum.

🧋✨ Therapist Spotlight: Chris Lunsford, LCSW

Meet our newest clinician coming in from Buffalo, NY- Chris!

Chris specializes in EMDR therapy, as well as work in Internal Family Systems. She works with clients 18 and older, and especially enjoys working with professionals on persistent patterns of thinking, behavior, or relationship patterns that they’ve been unable to shift.

When they're not working, Chris enjoys time outside in her garden, or hiking and exploring nature. Weather too nasty? She also enjoys baking and completing puzzles, or reading and writing poetry.

Chris believes in the innate human capacity for a joyful and expansive life, rooted in the connection between mind, body, and spirit. In their own words, "Our ultimate goal is to help you explore and release old patterns of thoughts, feelings, body sensations, and behaviors, while learning new ways of thinking and being that better align with who you aspire to be and how you wish to show up in the world."

Chris has immediate openings the week of Nov 18th for in person sessions at our Old Irving Park location, or virtually. Interested in scheduling? email intake@urbanwellnesscounseling.com or click the Contact Form in our bio!

🧋✨ Therapist Spotlight: Irene Travis, LSW

Meet Irene!

Irene's passion is working with children and teens, in fact she works with ages 3+ in her therapy space. She specializes in supporting clients who struggle with big behaviors, self-esteem, anxiety, emotional regulation, social-emotional issues, grief, and trauma.

In her own words, "I love utilizing the powers of play to help children grow and working closely with their families to foster safe and trusting relationships for healing to take place!" Irene uses a blend of play therapy and talk therapy to navigate her person-centered approach to counseling.

Outside of the office, Irene enjoys anything sports-related. Whether she's coaching, on the field, or watching from the stands, it's a true passion for her. Doing any of the above with family? The more the merrier.

Irene has openings out of our Old Irving Park office and is also available virtually. If you're interested in getting yourself, your kiddo, or your family set up in therapy, contact us in the link in our bio!
