🌟 CEU Sunday: Recognizing and Addressing Perinatal Mood Disorders in Therapy 🌟

Working with clients experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) can be deeply rewarding—but without the right tools, it can also feel overwhelming. PMADs affect 1 in 7 women and 50% of men whose partners are impacted, yet many go undiagnosed and untreated.

Join Amy Johnston, LCSW, PMH-C for a one-hour course designed to equip clinicians with the skills to recognize, support, and refer clients experiencing PMADs. This webinar will help you:

✔️ Identify symptoms, triggers, and risk factors for PMADs.
✔️ Learn to use two screening tools effectively.
✔️ Explore evidence-based approaches for treatment.
✔️ Strengthen your ability to connect clients with the right resources and support.

🕒 Earn 1 CE Hour while expanding your capacity to support clients through the unique challenges of pregnancy and postpartum.

Not sure if therapy is the right choice? Afraid of committing to longterm treatment? Looking for a second opinion on your next steps? Sick of sitting on waitlists?

Our Assessment and Referral Program is designed to simplify the process and connect you with the right care—all in just one session. When you call us, you’ll be linked to a licensed therapist and scheduled for an assessment within 48 hours, and often we can schedule you for the next day.

Our therapists will meet with you for 1 hour, provide clinical feedback, and offer their suggestion for your care plan. We believe in treating the mind and body as a whole, so this might be a suggestion for something other than talk therapy, such as OT/PT, Nutrition Counseling, Med Management, or Holistic Therapies.

Receive a printed list of referral options after your assessment, and move forward with a clear path to uplift your health. Our Assessment and Referral program is open for kids 6+ and adults.

🧋✨ Therapist Spotlight: Irene Travis, LSW

Meet Irene!

Irene's passion is working with children and teens, in fact she works with ages 3+ in her therapy space. She specializes in supporting clients who struggle with big behaviors, self-esteem, anxiety, emotional regulation, social-emotional issues, grief, and trauma.

In her own words, "I love utilizing the powers of play to help children grow and working closely with their families to foster safe and trusting relationships for healing to take place!" Irene uses a blend of play therapy and talk therapy to navigate her person-centered approach to counseling.

Outside of the office, Irene enjoys anything sports-related. Whether she's coaching, on the field, or watching from the stands, it's a true passion for her. Doing any of the above with family? The more the merrier.

Irene has openings out of our Old Irving Park office and is also available virtually. If you're interested in getting yourself, your kiddo, or your family set up in therapy, contact us in the link in our bio!

🧋✨ Therapist Thursday Spotlight: Tina Ye, LPC

Tina specializes in working with adolescents and adults who need support with anxiety, stress, self-esteem, school issues, life transitions, and trauma. She also loves working with individuals who want to focus on identity and acculturation and loves to integrate culture into her therapy space.

Tina has a whole collection of techniques, but enjoys DBT, CBT, IFS, and Mindfulness. In her words, "You can expect to hear me try to bridge the gap between what your emotions are saying versus what your brain is saying. Sessions with me are a mix of reflection, exploration, and collaboration as we learn about what’s been on your mind, and we’ll uncover patterns and find ways to move forward."

Outside of the therapy space, Tina enjoys walks outside, preferably with a boba in hand. During those cold Chicago winters, she likes to spend time with family and friends, or hunker down and break out the video games, or her most current knitting project.

Land Acknowledgment: Urban Wellness acknowledges that the lands on which our practice resides with locations in Chicago and Forest Park, Illinois, are on occupied land, and was originally inhabited by Peoria, Bodwéwadmi (Potawatomi), Myaamia, Očhéthi Šakówiŋ, Hoocąk (Ho-Chunk), and Kiikaapoi (Kickapoo) peoples before their forced assimilation, labor, and removal from their ancestral lands. We recognize the Native peoples of these lands and invite all to consider supporting Indigenous communities and the fight for Indigenous racial justice.
