🧋✨ Therapist Thursday Spotlight: Nikki Jocivilo

Nikki specializes in working with couples, the LGBTQIA+ community, and any adults 21+ who are looking for support with trauma. Are you an individual looking for relationship support? She's ready to go. Polyamorous? She's on board! Angry about the state of the world and looking for a therapist who is aligned? Look no further.

She works with a number of modalities, including ACT, Internal Family Systems, Gottman method, and Dynamic Attachment Re-patterning Assistance. In her own words, "You can count on empathy, direct feedback, and some laughter to sweeten the tears."

When she's not in the office, Nikki can be found seeing movies or plays, cooking and reading, hanging with friends (people or cats- her favorites!), or doing yoga or pilates.

Nikki works out of our Edison Park office and can see clients both in person or via teletherapy. Schedule with her today: https://urbanwellnesscounseling.com/contact-us/

"It's okay not to be okay" may be a cliché, but there is truth to the saying. When things feel uncertain, we tend to reach for things that we can control, and hold on to anxiety about the things we cannot. Give yourself some grace and validation during times of uncertainty.

🧋✨ Therapist Spotlight: Angela Nino, LSW

Looking for a therapist who brings out the best in you? Look no further than Angela!

Angela works with adults who are looking for someone to help them discover inner strengths. Her favorite clients are those who identity as neurodivergent, trauma survivors, LGBTQIA+, or as first responders. A former first responder herself, she knows the mental load it can take to process that trauma in day to day life.

In her own words, "You know more about yourself than I ever will. I help you to use your strengths with traditional talk therapy, and skills in staying present in the moment and regulating emotions. I use humor, artistic expression, games, and play to help you tolerate and process what life is throwing at you."

Angela is accepting clients both in person at our Sauganash location and virtually for all clients in Illinois.

🌟 CEU Sunday: Recognizing and Addressing Perinatal Mood Disorders in Therapy 🌟

Working with clients experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) can be deeply rewarding—but without the right tools, it can also feel overwhelming. PMADs affect 1 in 7 women and 50% of men whose partners are impacted, yet many go undiagnosed and untreated.

Join Amy Johnston, LCSW, PMH-C for a one-hour course designed to equip clinicians with the skills to recognize, support, and refer clients experiencing PMADs. This webinar will help you:

✔️ Identify symptoms, triggers, and risk factors for PMADs.
✔️ Learn to use two screening tools effectively.
✔️ Explore evidence-based approaches for treatment.
✔️ Strengthen your ability to connect clients with the right resources and support.

đź•’ Earn 1 CE Hour while expanding your capacity to support clients through the unique challenges of pregnancy and postpartum.

For this Valentine's Day, we're sharing one of our older Wellness posts on resparking your relationship!

Picture a fresh new romance.
Those early days full of butterflies and excitement usually come with a long list of get to know you questions. Once you covered the surface stuff, you probably went deeper until you felt like you understood one another.

At some point in long-term relationships, that heady honeymoon period can fade. Once you’ve settled into the routine of your relationship, you may find you have less time for curiosity about the mystery that is your partner. Strike the match to some quick questions you can use to rekindle (see what we did there?) your relationship.

🧋✨ Therapist Spotlight: Mariana Bednarek, LPC

¿Estás buscando un terapeuta? Looking for a therapist? Mariana is in the building and ready to customize her work to your needs.

Her therapeutic jam are adults looking for support living with trauma, especially those of marginalized identities such as LGBTQIA+, neurodiverse, and BIPOC clients.

As a Mexican-American woman, she recognizes the impact of identity and lived experience on trauma and anxiety. In her own words:

"I work from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, feminist lens. On top of helping you identify skills you can apply to your day-to-day lives, I am willing to have difficult conversations about external oppressive systems that could be affecting your mental health and the way you navigate the world. I recognize that you don’t exist in a bubble. I believe therapeutic change comes from a number of things, including you feeling heard by and safe with me, gaining concrete skills you can apply outside of session, and developing insight into what brings you to therapy, as well as how systems of power, privilege, and oppression affect you."

It's common to feel like you're not good enough. This can happen at work, at school, or in parenthood. We may feel insecure as partners in a relationship, as artists, or in how we show up to our unique ethnic or gender identities.
