A picture says a thousand words....is a quote most of us know .... but what is really going on behind the obvious

On a rainy day away from home and a sick spouse....I walked to get breakfast and got a love heart on my cappuccino

Then I received my bacon and egg roll from a smiling waitress who has less hours of work today because the rainy weather has meant the beachside cafe shuts early......

Seconds later an Ibis (or otherwise known as a bin chicken) stole my egg roll...

Thankfully the cafe replaced it..... I moved to safer territory, close to the cafe door

I was on my own and the Ibis saw my vulnerability and went for it....

Some posts could encourage you to find the positive in hard times ...... and that is important

I've posted about this and "living despite"

Today however, I want to acknowledge the seasons when so many challenges have come that you are barely holding on .... and if someone suggests you find the positive ..... well it makes you feel worse, angry or like throwing a punch.

I've been there .....in the trenches.... burnout/grief/menopause and more......I had little resilience and felt despair

If I can encourage anyone today...to be kind to yourself if you are in this place....seek help and give yourself space to find your way through

Even if progress is slow ...there is light at the end of this tunnel and hope for the future🌻

The 30 year old young woman on the left had hopes and dreams, loved fiercely, was hurt deeply and carries many scars....
Her husband was broken and in time she realised that she couldn't rescue him because of this and the fact she was also impacted by a childhood that was loving , yet not without trauma.

Years later I am married again and as I have studied and become a qualified Interplay facilitator, I have learned how most of us have experienced things in our early years that impacted how secure our attachment was with our parents/primary caregivers. So many things we wrestle with in adulthood stem from experiences our family went through in our formative years. Our parents may have been loving and nurturing like mine, yet they might have experienced financial strain, health challenges, or been working through their own challenges while learning to parent ........

It's not about pointing the finger at anyone, but understanding the WHY behind the WHAT....

Interplay sessions facilitate rewiring in the brain...of the trauma effect..... creating a new pathway from a healed perspective. This is facilitated in play sessions between parent/s and child/children.

This same understanding can also be worked through in sessions with adults...... without play

Healing is possible..... living life free of insecure or anxious attachment is possible...

When on the journey forward into healing, we are stepping out into new territory and this can be daunting. At times we might feel like we don't feel safe in this new space or that we are not making progress.

Practice self-compassion and be your own cheer squad. Each decision helps you to move forward and do the work you need to do, making small changes as you go and setting yourself up to have the future you want....is a victory to be acknowledged.

Celebrate small positive changes and take the time you need to.......as you build new habits your confidence will grow.

Wise advice.....

✨ ~ DEPRESSION TIPS ~ ✨

Shower. Not a bath, a shower. Use water as hot or cold as you like. You don’t even need to wash. Just get in under the water and let it run over you for a while. Sit on the floor if you gotta.

Moisturize everything. Use whatever lotion you like. Unscented? Dollar store lotion? Fancy 48 hour lotion that makes you smell like a field of wildflowers? Use whatever you want, and use it all over your entire dermis.

Put on clean, comfortable clothes.

Put on your favorite underwear. Cute black lacy panties? Those ridiculous boxers you bought last christmas with candy cane hearts on the butt? Put them on.

Drink cold water. Use ice. If you want, add some mint or lemon for an extra boost. I always use lemon.

Clean something. Doesn’t have to be anything big. Organize one drawer of a desk. Wash five dirty dishes. Do a load of laundry. Scrub the bathroom sink.

Blast music. Listen to something upbeat and dancey and loud, something that’s got lots of energy. Sing to it, dance to it, even if you suck at both.

Make food. Don’t just grab a granola bar to munch. Take the time and make food. Even if it’s ramen. Add something special to it, like a soft boiled egg or some veggies. Prepare food, it tastes way better, and you’ll feel like you accomplished something.

Make something. Write a short story or a poem, draw a picture, color a picture, fold origami, crochet or knit, sculpt something out of clay, anything artistic. Even if you don’t think you’re good at it. Create.

Go outside. Take a walk. Sit in the grass. Look at the clouds. Smell flowers. Put your hands in the dirt and feel the soil against your skin.

Call someone. Call a loved one, a friend, a family member, call a chat service if you have no one else to call. Talk to a stranger on the street. Have a conversation and listen to someone’s voice. If you can’t bring yourself to call, text or email or whatever, just have some social interaction with another person. Even if you don’t say much, listen to them. It helps.

Cuddle your pets if you have them/can cuddle them. Take pictures of them. Talk to them. Tell them how you feel, about your favorite movie, a new game coming out, anything.

May seem small or silly to some, but this list keeps people alive.

*** At your absolute best you won’t be good enough for the wrong people. But at your worst, you’ll still be worth it to the right ones. Remember that. Keep holding on.

*** In case nobody has told you today I love you and you are worth your weight and then some in gold, so be kind to yourself and most of all keep pushing on!!!!

What path are you on .....?
Everyday we make thousands of choices as we move through our day....
We choose when we get up, what we wear/eat/drink, we choose how we respond to challenges in life or everyday moments, we choose how we build relationship with other people in our lives, we choose how we drive and respond to others driving, we choose recreational activities and if we have a faith in God or not.
The list is endless....

Have you taken time to assess your daily choices and whether they're not only true to your values......
BUT
If you could look backwards from the end of your life to where you are now...... WOULD YOU BE WHERE YOU WANT TO BE....

Thinking about the end and living life with that in mind..... can really help you assess your life and daily choices NOW

Take time to think this through.....BE TRUE TO YOU ☺️

Do you have a spot that you can sit and "just be'.....

We all have multiple demands on our time..... the secret to maintaining wellbeing is to take short sections of recharge time..... perhaps 10-15 minutes of eating, having a cuppa, listening to a favourite song or a new song, listening to the sounds in nature (birds, wind in trees etc)

It's not so much about what you do.... but it is the benefit of just stopping for a mini break, letting your mind and body recharge

How can you implement this in your day/life and experience the benefits of doing so

You may be looking for a reprieve or end date to a season of stress you feel you are in....

Or you might have experienced one season of stress after the other and are feeling overwhelmed.....

LIFE can just have stress as part of it all the time for multiple reasons....

Realistically burn out might be lurking around the corner ...so building in short windows of rest are essential.

15-20 minute rest breaks get you through busy days/seasons...... preventing total overwhelm or burn out

Even 10 minute breaks 3 times a day can be very beneficial....
