Out of office for a few days 🌿

My family and I (minus my eldest, who’s home studying for his Year 12 external exams — his choice!) have escaped to beautiful Hobart, Tasmania to celebrate some milestone birthdays and reconnect with family — some of whom I haven’t seen in over 14 years.

It feels really special to pause, breathe, and soak in these moments together. ✨

If you reach out while I’m away and it’s not urgent, I’ll reply once we’re home next week. Thank you for your patience and understanding💖

Last week a breastfeeding mother was asked to leave a Virgin Australia lounge for pumping. Experts says while there is a level of awareness that breastfeeding in public is protected, some people in the community still view it as "inappropriate".

Ever feel like you're stuck in a fog of fatigue, indecision, and frustration? That’s been me these past three weeks, recovering from RSV. It’s been a journey of rest, reflection, and, honestly, a bit of frustration—especially when it comes to tackling social media.

But here’s the thing: healing takes time, and so does finding clarity. I’m finally starting to feel like myself again, and I’m excited to be back in the clinic next week, doing what I love most—helping families and little ones thrive.

To anyone else out there feeling overwhelmed or stuck, remember: it’s okay to pause, breathe, and take things one step at a time. You don’t have to have it all figured out today.

And as for social media? Meh. Sometimes it’s okay to admit it’s not your favourite thing. 😉

Here’s to progress, not perfection. 💪

💛 Important Update – August Bookings 💛

I wanted to let you know that I’ve had to close my books for new clients for the month of August.

Unfortunately, I’ve been unwell with RSV and a chest infection over the past two weeks, which has meant rescheduling existing clients so they’re still supported while I recover.

My priority right now is getting well, catching up on the families already in my care, and making sure everyone receives the attention they deserve.

If you are a current client waiting to hear from me, I’ll be in touch soon to confirm your new appointment time.

If you’re a new family seeking support, dm me and I have some trusted colleagues and mentees who may be able to help you sooner.

Thank you so much for your patience, kindness, and understanding 💛

💛 Community Call-Out for Donor Breastmilk 💛

We have a local family who would love to continue providing their baby with donor breastmilk and are reaching out for support from our wonderful community.

🤍 If you are a breastfeeding mum with an established supply and are willing to donate breastmilk, your gift could mean the world to this family.

Donor breastmilk can be an incredible support for babies when mothers are experiencing low supply, recovery from birth complications, medical conditions, or other challenges that make breastfeeding difficult.

🌱 If you are interested in donating, please ensure you:
✔️ Are in good health
✔️ Are not smoking, drinking alcohol, or using recreational drugs
✔️ Are not taking medications or supplements that are unsafe in lactation

If you are happy to help or would like to know more about how donor milk sharing works, please send me a DM and I can connect you with the family.

Let’s come together to support this little one and their parents with the gift of breastmilk. 💛

💖 Mums need care too: Breastfeeding while sick with a cold or flu. 💖

Being a mum is tough, but being a sick mum while breastfeeding? That’s next-level strength. While you’re busy taking care of your little one, don’t forget to take care of yourself too.

Here are some tips to help you recover while continuing to nourish your baby:

1️⃣ Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water, herbal teas, or clear broths to keep your milk supply steady and your body hydrated.

2️⃣ Rest When You Can: Sleep is your best friend when you’re sick. Nap when your baby naps, and don’t hesitate to ask for help from family or friends.

3️⃣ Eat Nourishing Foods: Focus on nutrient-rich meals like soups, fruits, and vegetables to fuel your recovery.

4️⃣ Safe Medications: Many over-the-counter cold and flu medications are safe while breastfeeding, but always check with your healthcare provider or IBCLC first.

5️⃣ Practice Self-Care: A warm shower, a cozy blanket, or even a few minutes of deep breathing can make a world of difference.

✨ Remember: You can’t pour from an empty cup. Taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of your baby.

💊 Do you need to take medication and have been told to stop breastfeeding or expressing your breastmilk? 💊

Before making any decisions, it’s crucial to ensure you’ve been given accurate, evidence-based information.

Here’s what you need to know:

✅ Most medications are safe to take while breastfeeding. Only a small number require you to stop breastfeeding or adjust your feeding routine.
✅ In many cases, there are safer alternatives available that allow you to continue breastfeeding.
✅ Unfortunately, not all health professionals have access to the right resources or know where to find them. This means you may need to advocate for yourself and your baby.

The good news? There are strong, evidence-based resources available to help you and your healthcare provider make the best decision for your situation.

📌 Check out the images above for these amazing resources!

💡 Remember: You don’t have to navigate this alone. Share this post with your health professional so they can access the right information to support breastfeeding mothers and infants.
