I have been sitting with my experience at the summit because it truly felt like medicine.
Grounding, expansive, and filled with the kind of conversations that stay with you long after you have left the room.
It meant so much to be there with my best friend and to be invited into this space. I had the honor of being a speaker and guiding a practice, but the real gift was witnessing what happens when people come together and speak openly about mental health, su***de, and those deeply human moments of desperation we often keep hidden. When we come together in vulnerability, we create space for love, support, and hope to grow as both humans and as leaders.
I met the most unbelievable people from neuroscientists to CEOs, musicians, and artists. I felt so honored to be in rooms where everyone was committed to healing, storytelling and human connection. It genuinely felt like finding my people in the world.
One of the talks that stayed with me was from .brackett who shared the story of his uncle, Marvin. Uncle Marvin was a public school teacher who shaped so much of Dr. Brackett’s work on emotional intelligence by being the first person he could truly open up to about some very difficult childhood trauma and experiences. He spoke about the three qualities that he learned from his Uncle for building strong relationships. They are: presence, trust, and safety. It was such a powerful reminder of how life changing it is to have someone like that in your world where you can truly share your hardships and pain and how meaningful it is to be that person for others whenever you can.
I feel so lucky that I have people like that in my life, including my bestie and so many others. I hope and pray we all have an Uncle Marvin and I will be carrying this whole experience with me for a long time. Thank you, and for this unforgettable experience!
