Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., your patients can discreetly dispose of their unused or expired prescription drugs at local, convenient collection sites. Encourage your patients to visit www.DEATakeBack.com to find drop-off locations and reduce public safety risk.

Healthcare providers can also help their patients safely dispose of unused medications from HOME by requesting free, easy-to-use Deterra drug disposal pouches from MACS.

On Thursday, May 14, join MACS Consultant Nicholaus Christian, MD, as he hosts a live, virtual training, “Providing SUD Care for the Unstably Housed Patient: Teaching Belonging & Connection.”

Participants can expect to learn how to recognize the drivers of substance use among people experiencing homelessness or housed in congregate settings, formulate an addiction care plan for a patient experiencing homelessness or unstable housing, and teach trainees or staff strategies to engage people with lived experience of homelessness in addiction care that enhances belonging and connection.

A new research letter published in JAMA Network Open highlights the significant geographic barriers to providing medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) in carceral settings, with over half of all nonfederal U.S. jails located more than 30 minutes from the nearest opioid treatment program (OTP).

Join us at noon on Monday, April 20, as MACS Medical Director and Consultant Eric Weintraub, MD, hosts "The Role of Telemedicine in Expanding Access to Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) Care in Underserved Areas."

Dr. Weintraub will discuss current state and national telemedicine regulations relating to MOUD, identify underserved areas where Tele MOUD can increase access to care and address the potential barriers impacting effective implementation.
