Born and raised just outside of Boston, I’m a DC transplant and your standard 20-something working professional. Growing up, food always played a pivotal role in my life and I was encouraged to not only try new foods, but also to learn the ins and outs of the kitchen. After attending college in North Carolina and making my way up to DC, I began to combine my foodie interests with my chosen career field of environmental sustainability activism. As I am still young the two don’t always combine seamlessly, but I created Gathering Green for just this reason. Even in a world with millions of personal blogs, I noticed a lack of those that fuse the idea of sustainable living with one of the most common factors amongst us all… food. Inspired by my first Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), I set out to carve out my little corner of the Internet. Gathering Green started as an environmentally focused blog, but has since moved more into the realm of a sustainable food/agriculture blog. I’m very active and can be found participating in any number of group and individual activities during any given season. Some of my current activities include, running, playing on an intramural hockey team, coaching a middle school softball team, exploring the hiking trails around the DMV area, and finding new ways to achieve overall fitness and health. You can expect to read recaps of the various adventures I find for myself. A bit about my philosophy:
My personal opinion centers on one main premise: I want to leave this world better than I entered. Gathering Green will be a learning and growing experience for me, and I invite you to join me on my journey. Come for the recipes, and stay green revolution!
