Since January 8, 2025, Progressing through Therapy has been honored to provide in-person counseling services in Wadesboro, expanding our Greensboro-based practice to increase local access to mental health care. This initiative was guided by community input and a shared goal of bringing professional, compassionate support closer to home.
Today, we are writing to share that we will be closing our Wadesboro office EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.
This decision comes after careful consideration of the results of our pilot effort. Over the past six months, we’ve learned a great deal about both the opportunities and challenges of expanding services in Anson County. While we were able to serve several residents and host open house events to encourage dialogue about mental health, overall demand for ongoing in-person counseling was not at the level needed to sustain operations locally, especially given travel and facility costs.
Rather than viewing this change as an ending, we see it as a chance to refocus on what is most needed right now: community education and outreach. Mental health remains essential for everyone, and we believe that reducing stigma, increasing understanding, and building trust are key steps toward meaningful, sustainable care.
While our in-person clinical services will no longer be based in Wadesboro at this time, our team remains deeply committed to supporting the community in other ways. We would welcome the opportunity to partner with schools, churches, local organizations, and workplaces to offer educational workshops or presentations on topics such as:
• Stress and anxiety management
• Coping with life transitions
• Grief and loss
• Emotional regulation skills
• Trauma awareness and support
We hope these efforts can lay the groundwork for stronger community connections and greater comfort with seeking help in the future.
