Welcome to my new website Healthy Living With Hope.
Almost two decades ago I got serious about making my lifestyle my medicine after I was kicked out of infertility treatment and told that it would be impossible for me to have another child. I was overweight, undernourished, addicted to soft drinks and fast food and I wasn’t moving. I had been diagnosed with several chronic “incurable” illnesses all with poor long-term outlooks.
As I took ownership of my own journey, my approach evolved to include how I eat, live, move, and deal with the stresses of life. At first, my focus was on feeling better, but later my focus broadened to include living in a more connected and heartfelt way.
My journey has not been a straight line upward. There are peaks and valleys, and the best I can hope for is to hold onto that place of balance somewhere in between, and the knowledge that when I don’t balance is still there within reach.
I believe that health and fitness are not about the perfect body. Instead, it’s about finding balance moment by moment, moving through our fears, building self-confidence, self-acceptance, and experiencing heartfelt joy and happiness as we journey together on the road of discovery and to our best selves.
I hope that by sharing my journey and the knowledge I have learned along the way that you find a sense of connection to your own.
We all have dreams of becoming a better version of ourselves. I think the first step is learning to love yourself enough to make changes that get you moving toward your dreams. Then having the strength and courage to follow them. All made easier when we do it together, supporting each other along the way.
It’s been an exciting journey over the past several years. Hope’s Yoga was born out of a feeling of being directly called to share the healing qualities of yoga after my practice changed my life.
Common themes kept coming up – increasing issues around stress and its effects on health and the real struggles we all face while aging. More than ever we need healthy living practices and ways to reduce our stress load and help us to embrace aging with more health, vigor, and purpose.
This is why I am expanding my mission of sharing yoga to include all aspects of healthy living. I want to invite you to come along, to share your stories, your voice, and your ideas. What do you want to hear about? What is your biggest struggle right now?
