Orthognathic surgery can be performed with either a maxilla-first or mandible-first approach. There are many reasons for choosing one over the other as it depends not only on the surgical indications and the desired outcomes, but also on the system used, such as patient-specific implants or patient-specific splints, the surgeon's experience, and personal preference.
