We must recognize the reality of galamsey and its devastating effects on the health of both the born and the unborn. It's crucial that we hold our MPs accountable and demand they prioritize the agenda. If they fail to act, we must be prepared to vote them out.

The chemicals polluting our water bodies are the same ones we use for washing, cooking, bathing, and in some cases, even drinking. If you believe you’re safe because you have a borehole, think again: your food, cooked or uncooked is still affected by these toxic substances.

Moreover, these same contaminated waters are being used by companies to produce medicine and other products. Ghanaians, let’s wake up because we are dying gradually. This is mass murder.

It’s election year, and we must leverage this moment to pressure our MPs to do the right thing, or they risk losing their seats. Do you really think the recent surge in kidney and liver diseases happened by chance? Do you consider the rise in congenital abnormalities and malformations among infants to be mere coincidence?

It’s time to put pressure on our MPs to advocate for our health and safety, or we must vote them out. Our lives and the future of our children depend on it.

I'm deeply troubled by the utterances of some of our so-called leaders in Ghana. The rampant destruction of our water bodies through illegal mining (galamsey) is heart-wrenching, and what pains me even more is seeing marginalized and underserved communities defend those responsible for this devastation. How can anyone justify such a barbaric act?

The most disheartening aspect is the silence of certain individuals and institutions regarding this issue. The health implications alone are catastrophic, polluted water leads to widespread diseases like cholera, mercury poisoning, and long-term damage to our ecosystems. Our agricultural lands are being destroyed, leading to food insecurity and loss of livelihoods for many Ghanaians who depend on the land. The siltation of our rivers and streams from illegal mining activity severely disrupts water flow, contributing to floods and erosion that destroy communities and infrastructure.

If we don't act now, we risk losing not only our natural resources but also our future as a nation. Why do we have to politicize everything in this country, even at the expense of our survival? Mr. President, we plead with you, take decisive action. This is about the very survival of Ghana. We have only one country, and we must protect it before it’s too late. Let’s preserve our lands, our water, and the health of our people for the betterment of all.
