I’ve needed to unplug for about 4 months, and have honestly struggled to keep it together. I’m learning that my mental and physical health have limits that I need to listen to. I need my family, the hot sun, salt water and sand in my toes to recharge my batteries. My husband just told me that today (day 3) I’m starting to look like I’m on vacation. Sad, isn’t it?
Since we live in the northeast, we can have all four seasons in a week, we chose a place with more dependable fabulous weather. Peace out ✌🏻 until next week.

Hi friends! Best wishes to all of you for the holiday season! I’ve missed you!
If you noticed, aside from sharing about my special little bakery, and my beloved Philadelphia Eagles, I’ve been absent from social media.

Why? Health coaching on social media has become exhausting. Everything is all about the new shiny thing, that nonexistent magic pill. I see fewer and fewer people interested in making changes that would serve them for the long term. Am I still coaching? YES. If you want to make serious health changes, I’m your person.

I’ve been spending more time working on me…..my mental health, my physical health, with a personal trainer, my financial health, and focusing on my future.

This upcoming February will be 6 years that I started the change in my life that saw me lose all thst “wait” and ye I still contend with this everyday.

I’m so proud of myself.

It’s not been easy. If I’m being honest, menopause is the rudest thing that happens to women, after everything we’ve been through already.

But prioritizing my nutrition, sleep, water intake and physical exercise have made me thrive at 55.
If you’re stuck, let me help you. I’ve been where you are. Cheers, friends! I’m back! 😊😘

While the rest of you have been in school for weeks, we have been reveling in summer. Today, we reluctantly go back to school. Benjamin is 20. It’s his third and possibly final year of his post secondary experience in high school. He’s excited for the routine, his mom, not that excited about the 5:45 alarm. Our first time waking up in darkness since May.

Now that we’re eating off the land 😆- kidding, this recipe was made from 2 zucchini in my garden though!
I’ve been looking for fun and healthy recipes to make with the zucchini because we will have many of them!
These cheesy stacks were delicious ! 10 out of 10- easy, simple, healthy, delicious. Paired it with grilled chicken and that chopped salad I showed you all weeks ago! Yummy!

My partner in crime. Easygoing, patient, sympathetic, grateful, helpful. His smile lights up a room. Better late than never official start to our summer. At least it feels like it now.

BEST. MONTH. OF. THE. YEAR.
While my birthday month has always been a special time, I share it now with Demelza (4) whose birthday is today, and Moira (2) whose birthday is the 15th.
July reminds me of all the things I love…sun, sand, sea, watermelon, peaches, BBQ, gelato, long daylight days.
Welcome, my friend! Let’s celebrate all month long.

I love teaching people that eating healthy is easy. Pairing proteins and vegetables, healthy fats, condiments, it’s all so liberating versus eating fast food, or even ordering in, when you really have no idea how something is prepared. I’ve learned so much thanks to my program, and taught so many others how simple is always better, simple will serve you, simple takes the pressure off when preparing a meal.
Do you agree?

One thing that makes me crazy about social media is that perfection you see people posting 100% of the time. You don’t see their mess. Only perfectly curated content that makes you think everything has to be perfect.
Not me. My life is messy. Complicated. Overwhelming. Uncertain.
However… I hope that my social media brings you hope. I dream that it helps you dream bigger about what’s possible. I challenge you to challenge yourself. Do the hard things. Take the chance. Make the change.
It’s been my experience that the messy parts are truly where the magic happens.

I was talking to a client the other day about what living day to day, after a weight loss period looks like. My client has been VERY successful and has lost over 65 . I explained to her that this whole process has been leaving up to this. The education she gained..about her nervous system, about emotional eating, drinking water, portion control, etc. Now, we’re going to put it all together. When I explained how seamless the next step would be to “real life” after the past 6 weeks of transition, she realized she was already living her life in a completely different way.
She already has the tools she needs! I’ll still be there to keep her accountable too. Have you ever felt like “what happens next” was too overwhelming or so you thought, but it really wasn’t?

5 years ago, I’d NEVER have believed that I would own a bakery that employs 20 young adults with developmental disabilities.

All thanks to my “cute little side hustle” that most of my friends refused to even entertain when I invited them to join my team! 🤣🤣

Can you imagine? Someone who was addi€Ted to food, who lost 50 £Bs!!!! Why would I do that?
My health journey taught me so many things. Most importantly, that the control was mine for the taking. Starting this journey was HARD. I was TERRIFIED of FAILURE because I’d failed soooo many times before. But something about this told me it was life changing. And that it was.
Never could I have dreamt that helping others on their health journeys would provide me the means to open my own small business with a team of fierce parents and their young adults.
But here I am. 2 years in.

If something could have gone wrong over the past 2 years, it most certainly has gone wrong, exponentially. But guess what? This labor of love was meant to be, despite the obstacles people put in my way. In fact, we’re just getting started I feel like.
My family, my circle of friends, their children, and our community are all benefiting from this venture. Keep your eyes out for our next venture….which will also be made possible because of my health coaching.

Hindsight on your health journey is interesting, right? You start out all excited, but we all know that excitement wanes. It’s discipline, it’s manageable expectations, and it’s patience that win this race. Here are some helpful tips that I have learned over the past five years of just doing my best each and every day to be my healthiest self.

QUESTION: What information do you most look for from social media?
I love to share healthy recipes…BUT the truth is that we live such busy lives that preparing a recipe after a long work day isn’t something we all love doing.
I would try to share them mid day so that you could make it for dinner. I realize now that this isn’t always practical or valuable information in the moment.
Last week I showed you my salad hack, keeping chopped mix of salad at the ready. This is way more practical, isn’t it? You just get a scoop of the mix, and add what you want. Today I added cooked cod, seasoned with dill, olives, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, EVOO and white wine vinegar. It took me 5 minutes to through together, and I was so fully satisfied afterwards.

F A M I L Y is what matters most to me. Without these 3, nothing would matter.
I stopped climbing the corporate ladder after my older son was born. I knew I couldn’t work everyday in NYC and be 90 minutes from my baby. But I ALWAYS worked. I tried a few different things since work from home wasn’t a thing. When I did go back to corporate work, 20 years later, it was under my terms, never more than 2-3 days in the office. I’ve been fully remote since way before C@v!d made it the norm.
I jokingly dream of retirement, but at this point, I manage a side hustle AND a bakery while working my day job.
BUT
My family still comes first in all things. I plan everything around the boys and their needs and schedules. It just takes planning and organization. Anyone can do it. ❤️

I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. Can you relate? What have you done to change that?

I was so exhausted from the 35 year rollercoaster ride I’d been on with my bathroom scale.

High school, college, working, motherhood, the ups and downs to my body left me hopeless.

I know I’d have to change my lifestyle if it was going to last. I had been on too many “get thin now” kicks and knew enough that it ALL comes back if you don’t change what’s between your ears. I also know that if I could have done it alone, I’d already have done it.

5 years. FIVE YEARS. 1,825 days since I stopped chasing the #.
Am I perfect 💯? Uh no. I’m human.
Am I super fit? Uh no. But I’m working on it.
Is my mindset and outlook completely different than it was 5 years ago? HELL YES.
It’s so freeing to know that your mind set is all you really need to change.
