The top frequently asked questions, answered!

1) There are so many weightloss programs out there, but how does Metabolic Balanance stand out from the rest?? The list goes on in terms of comparisons but one of the main reasons I felt so compelled to start offering this program to clients is the success rate. Sometimes being in the contemplation phase (identifying that you want change but not ready, or lacking the confidence to start) of making change can be hard! It can be a mental battle going back and forth with the goals we have in our minds, and we typically think about the cons before thinking of the pros.

My advice ??? Start prioritizing your WHY, write them them down and meditate on them. There is a reason these goals exist !

💫All you have to do is start . Let’s remove those self limiting thoughts!

So how can we get in that extra 15g of a fibre a day?!

First off, we want to aim to get a balanced amount of both Soluble and Insoluble fibres

Below are a couple great sources of each!

Soluble (dissolves in water to bind)
▫️Black beans: 5.4 grams per cup
▫️Brussel sprouts: 2 grams per 1/2 cup
▫️Avocado: 2 grams per 1/2 avocado
▫️Pears: 1.5 grams per medium pear

Insoluble (bulks stool)
▫️Blackberries: 6.2 grams per cup
▫️Chickpeas: 10 grams per cup
▫️Quinoa: 4 grams per 1/2 cup
▫️Lentils: 7 grams per 1/2 cup cooked

When I tell people I’m a Metabolic balance coach that focuses on supporting your metabolism for weightloss and overall health the response is usually “What the heck is Metabolism”?

And that’s a GREAT question lol I’m sure you’ve heard “I can’t seem to lose weight; my metabolism is starting to slow down” and that’s not necessarily wrong but let’s break it down a bit.

And keep it simple 🤓

Our Metabolism is a set of LIFE SUSTAINING chemical processes that keep us alive and HEALTHY. It is the foundation of our health.

Our bodies depend on a balanced metabolism for so many processes…...production of energy, all our repair processes, the breakdown of toxic substances and the elimination of waste, how we metabolize protein, carbs and fats, detoxification processes, oxygen supply to all organs…a lot lol

So what can disrupt of these functions?
1. Poor diet
2. Long term stress
3. Environmental toxins

When our bodies aren’t receiving proper quality nutrition our metabolic rate (how much energy/calories we burn) starts to decrease and over time we can see the body respond in the form of weight gain.

It's that time of year 🙌

Smoothies anyone ? This is such a great way to start off your day if you're wanting to switch things up with the warmer weather, or if you're just looking for an easier way to get in that extra fiber, protein and fat!

The saying "breakfast is the most important meal of the day" could not be more accurate! This sets the tone for the rest of your day by stabilizing blood sugar levels that will help curb cravings and keep you feeling full and satisfied.

Your smoothie guide!

1. Pick low-sugar fruits, the berry family. Blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries are all low glycemic compared to tropical fruits and will be less of a spike in your blood sugar.

2. Leafy greens, spinach or kale are easy to incorporate without them being too overpowering of a taste. Packed with fiber and magnesium to also keep your blood sugar levels in check.

3. Protein protein! Plain greek yogurt or unsweetened protein powder. Protein slows the release of glucose in the blood helping to stabilize as well as keeping you feeling fuller for longer.

4. Healthy fat, essential macronutrient we never want to leave out for metabolic health and glucose control. Almond butter, coconut oil, avocado, ground flaxseed are some great delicious choices!

5. Liquids, recommend sticking to water or milk of your choice( double check plant based milks for their sugar content, some brands contain high amounts of added sugar), fruit juices have a lot of sugar with minimal fiber content.

6. Spice it up with a little cocoa powder and or cinnamon!

Recipe anyone?
🍓 1 cup of berries
🥬 2 cups of greens
🥛 20 grams of protein
🥑 1/2 avocado or 1 tbsp of almond butter/flaxseed/ or coconut oil
🥤 and 1-2 cups of liquid depending on your desired texture

It’s a mindset shift 💭

We can easily associate food with negative thoughts. The weightloss industry has unfortunately done a great job of instilling fear around food, where we look at it as the enemy instead of the answer.

Switching our perspective can be difficult but next time you think about needing to eliminate something from your diet, I challenge you to first add 1 good thing instead. Maybe it’s more veggies, water, or fruit ……The more we focus on adding in the good, the less we’ll be focused on associating better eating habits with removing or feeling restricted.

Let’s get back to the basics, simple as that!

When you have a specific plan designed for you, we can start to look at food as the answer, fuel, medicine. Our bodies will start to work as it should allowing us to redefine our relationship with food, understand what getting healthy is suppose to look/feel like and be in control.

Obtaining your desired weight should not consist of relying on products, feeling constantly hungry, feeling deprived and controlled by cravings. These are all signs of hormonal imbalances and our body signalling that we are not giving it what it needs to function optimally.
