Hey there, I’m Deb Draheim! In 2018 I opened up to my Mediumship abilities, and now I use my gifts to help give voice to departed spirit! Before I share a bit about myself and how my journey led to my Mediumship abilities opening up, I’d like to take a moment to thank you for reaching out to me. The fact that you are reading this right now tells me that your departed loved ones may be wanting to communicate with you!
My journey began in 1990 when I lost my youngest brother to su***de. He was only 23 years old and his sudden and unexpected death completely devastated our entire family. It was especially hard on my folks, though, having a child pass away before them and not having an answer why? I think the worst part of my brothers su***de (at least for me) was being brought up in a religion that believes it's a sin to take your own life; and if you do take your own life, you end up in hell and burn for eternity. Having that horrible image and belief ingrained in my mind was terribly painful and a struggle to deal with growing up.
Twenty years later, in 2010, our family was devastated once again when my mom passed away from the dreaded “C” word; cancer. For anyone who has ever lost a parent you can just imagine how terribly grief stricken we were. Only four short years after my mom's passing, my dad would also pass away from cancer, too.
Shortly after both of my parents had passed, strange and unexplained things started to happen at our home. It started with our camper stereo. On any given day, and on numerous different occasions, my husband and I would be out in our backyard and notice the camper stereo (which was stored in the backyard) would be blasting music. Each and every time when we would walk over to where the camper had been parked to investigate, we would always notice the camper door was locked. We were dumbfounded and, as hard as we tried, we simply couldn't come up with a logical explanation as to how the stereo could come on all by itself. Then, on numerous occasions, our newly installed gas fireplace in our living room would also come on all by itself. In fact, it happened so many times that we had to have the folks who initially installed the fireplace come out to service it. Each and every service call they made they were not able to find a single thing wrong with it. But what turned out to be the most significant of all these unexplained things that were happening was that of the touch lamp that was on our bedroom nightstand. This touch lamp in our bedroom on the nightstand would also turn on and off too, seemingly all by itself, and on many MANY MANY occasions!
After countless occasions of this happening with the lamp, I began to notice a pattern of when it would come on. It was my intuition that ultimately led me to believe this was my departed mother’s spirit attempting to communicate with me. I came to this conclusion only because the lamp always came on at significant milestone markers relating to my mom. For instance: the lamp would turn on on her birthday. It would turn on on the anniversary of her death. It would turn on on Mothers Day. Soon, it started coming on during my birthday and my siblings birthdays, as well, along with other important holidays we used to spend together.
Believing this was my departed mothers attempt to try and get my attention through the lamp, I decided to seek out a Medium and set up an appointment in the hopes of getting validation that my intuition was correct in suspecting it was indeed my departed mom coming to pay me a visit.
I’ll never forget the day of my appointment in which I actually had my reading! It was unbelievable! Not only did my departed mom come through and validate that it was indeed her who was turning the lamp on and off, but she also relayed a message through the medium telling me not to ever get rid of that lamp because it was easy for her to manipulate to let me know she was with me. Additionally, and even more impressive was that my mom relayed through the Medium that she had been with me in the bathroom when I was getting ready that day to attend my reading. You see, I wanted my mom to show up for my reading so badly that I said to her out loud, (while I was getting ready) “Please be here today, mom. Please show up!” The Medium actually relayed almost word for word (from my departed mom) the conversation I had had out loud with my mom in my bathroom. There was NO way this Medium could have possibly known what my conversation was with my mom! I was blown away!!
But what I found to be even more amazing than that was that my departed brother had come through, too! Through the Medium, my brother relayed answers as to why he committed su***de and gave me other messages I needed to hear to help me heal. I cried like a baby when the Medium shared his messages because I knew, at that point, that he wasn't burning in hell, after all, like I was led to believe. Hearing all the validations and information my departed family shared with the Medium to relay to me (that only I would know about) proved to me that my departed family members were still alive in spirit and still very much a part of my life. Ultimately, that reading I had had that day helped me tremendously to gain closure in my brothers death and to gain peace and comfort in knowing there is life after life!
Fast forward to 2018 when we experienced another devastating and sudden death of a good friend. Within a week of his passing, the touch lamp began to come on again. I knew intuitively this time that it was our dear friend trying to communicate with us. I spent countless hours each night communicating with him through the lamp (I know, this sounds crazy, right!) even capturing many of our conversations on video and sharing the videos with his family. After about a week, I sought out and set up an appointment with another Medium again to validate if this was indeed my friend I was communicating with. During my time with this Medium, not only did I receive the confirmation I was hoping for (that it was indeed him) but also, this particular Medium suggested to me that I mostly likely had mediumistic abilities based upon the experiences I was having with the lamp and the keen sense of intuition that led me to believe this was my mom and dear friend trying to communicate with me. (I later learned spirit can actually manipulate energy and that they often turn lights on and off to let us know they are with us.) She suggested I seek out a spiritual teacher who could help me figure out exactly what type of abilities I had, and could teach me how to develop and use these abilities to better communicate with spirit through the use of clairvoyance (seeing in my mind) rather than trying to do it through the lamp! Her suggestion totally piqued my curiosity!
Taking her advice and following my curiosity, in November of 2018 I attended a four week course on Mediumship entitled: Mediumship/Angel Intuitive Course; Embrace Your Spiritual Gifts With Grace and Ease which was taught by Julia Treat, M. A., Certified Medium/Angel Intuitive/Master Teacher and author of Stepping Into The Light. I received my certification of completion from this course on December 10th, 2018 after successfully meeting the requirement of completing 20 practice readings. Taking this course ultimately helped me to understand, open up, and develop my abilities.
I was extremely fortunate to be able to receive further training in August of 2019 where I attended a two day workshop called The Miracle of Communication held at Golden Light Healing Retreat Center in Sobieski, WI taught by world renowned UK Medium and teacher, Mavis Pittilla. Mavis Pittilla practiced her Mediumship development at the Arthur Findlay College in Essex, England. She later became a teacher and taught Evidential Mediumship at Arthur Findlay College and went on to travel and teach all around the world. Mavis wrote several books relating to her own Mediumship abilities & experiences, as well as books to help teach Evidential Mediumship. Through Mavis’s teaching I learned different skills and techniques on how to better communicate with spirit. I also discovered that I had some pretty amazing psychic abilities as well! Receiving training under the guidance of the great Mavis Pittilla was definitely a highlight in my life!!
After I completed the above training in 2019, I hit the ground running again and looked for as many volunteers as I could find to do more “practice” readings with. I was eager to put into practice these newly learned skills and techniques that I learned from Mavis that would help me to understand and learn how to navigate the spirit world better. Looking back at the 60 plus readings I have done, the most important thing I learned is, that: spirit never wastes a thought! And while I’m still fairly new to my abilities (and admittedly have a much more to learn) I’m extremely grateful to have this gift. I feel blessed and honored to be able to give voice to departed spirit!
This pretty much sums up my journey on how I got to where I am today. (Whew!! I told you this was gonna be a bit long, so if you hung in there, thank you!)
To summarize, briefly, my abilities as a Medium allow me to connect with departed loved ones in spirit. (I’ve even connected with departed bur-babies too!) When I do readings for folks, I simply relay the information and details that their departed loved ones in spirit shows to me. The information and details departed spirit provides is something that only the loved one having the reading will know and can validate. Receiving this type of validation and evidence is spirits way of letting you know it is truly them we are communicating with! As a Medium, I have no control over who decides to come through so its always exciting and interesting to see which departed loved one wishes to step forward and pay you a visit!

I do most of my readings over the phone. I’ve had people ask me if this is as effective as doing a reading in person - trust me when I say, spirit comes through just as clearly as when doing them in person! If you prefer to have a reading in person, you are more than welcome to come to my home!
One last thing to note and keep in mind: As I mentioned above, Mediums do not have any control on who decides to come through. I typically find whomever needs to come through the most for your greatest and highest good (or for healing purposes) is the one who usually steps forward! Often times, though, family just wants to come through to let you know they are alive and well and are still with you - whether they provide you with very specific messages or they just share a few brief memories!
