WELLNESS WEDNESDAY : NECK PAIN

The muscle in this picture is called the STERNOCLEIDOMASTOID...

When this particular muscle is tight it doesn't only effect your neck, it can effect the shoulders and upper back leaving the muscle very sensitive and painful to touch.

You may experience headaches, pain in your ears or sinuses. This muscle is a prime rotator muscle in your neck, it helps you to bend and flex your neck, allowing you to stabilise your head.

When this muscle is tight it can cause an imbalance and effect posture.

Massage can help to reduce tightness and pain by lengthening muscle fibres, as well as postural advice, exercises and stretches.

Please message to book or enquire.

WELLNESS WEDNESDAY : LATISSIMUS DORSI

Do you get pain in your neck, arms, shoulders or back?

This muscle could be the one to blame. Your latissimus dorsi is located on your back and is a large flat stabilising muscle which stretches around under the arms.

It attaches at the pelvis, spine, ribs, scapula and upper arm.

This muscle has lots of functions and is used all the time. The lats work at extending, adducting and rotating the arms. Therefore, tightness is not uncommon!

If this sounds familiar to you and you are experiencing pain in these areas, please feel free to book in for a full assessment, treatment and exercises to relieve symptoms!
