Ingrid Sellschop established her physiotherapy practice in 1998. The professional services she offers are based at The Business Centre in 8 Gemsbok road Rivonia. The Practice, which is situated in Johannes-burg's northern areas suburb of Rivonia, is easily accessible from the N1 concrete highway and barely 1.5km south of its Rivonia Road off-ramp, off 12th Avenue. Ingrid Sellschop's physiotherapy service offers patients complete and professional assessment, treatment and rehabilitation regimes for an extensive catalogue of ailments and conditions:

Neck, back and other spine-related conditions causing aches, pains or discomfort. Repetitive and debilitating strain injuries related to computer use and poor posture. Joint-trauma, sprains, injuries, stress conditions, post-operative care, as well as osteoarthritic cause -and-effect degeneration and any related manifestations. Chronic headaches and migraine-related distress, discomfort or pain. Sports injuries acquired from a vast range of professional or leisure activities. Chronic pain management of a variety of specific and non-specific conditions. Treatments are scheduled in half-hour to forty-five-minute appointments at a time, offering patients the personal, undivided attention and professional skills of the physiotherapist. All consultations and treatments are charged at Medical Aid rates.

What is Pain?

Pain is defined as “An unpleasant sensory and emotional expereince associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage”.

The most important thing to understand, is that pain doesnt necessarily mean that there is tissue damage.

Pain is influenced by a lot more than just body tissue. It is affected by and influences other areas of your life.

Emotions, sensations, cognitions (beliefs about pain) and social aspects (social withdrawal is common with pain) are involved in persisting pain. This is called the BIO-PSYCHO-SOCIAL model of pain.

As a Physiotherapist trained in pain management, i will guide your recovery process, which will involve looking at all aspects of your belief system around pain, the mechanism of injury, and how pain has or is affecting your life as a whole. Education is key to understanding your pain, and this will be the starting platform for your recovery process.

Be kind to yourself on your healing journey - self care and compassion are important aspects of being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

To all my patients : I will be seeing patients as usual from 4 th May, but reduced bookings per day will be in place so as to adhere to practice safety regulations.I have strict practice regulations in place in terms of keeping patients separate from each other ; sanitizing; wearing a mask and scrubs. Please contact my secretary on the practice cellphone if you need an appointment. It is compulsory to wear a mask. My secretary will send you a permit and details re our practice protocol, once you have an appointment. You may contact me on WhatsApp if you are unsure as to whether I can assist you through Telehealth or direct physiotherapy.
