“Hi, I’m Amber, a licensed clinical social worker with a passion for working with children and adolescents. My professional background began in child welfare, and I recently became fully licensed. I support clients as they navigate challenges like anxiety, emotional regulation, and life transitions. I aim to create a space where they feel safe, seen, and empowered. My therapeutic style is creative, intentional, and relationship-focused. I love incorporating art, play, and interactive activities that help young people express themselves and build meaningful coping skills.”

On Tuesday of this week, Clinical Director Angela Cano-Johnson accepted awards presented by Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. Special recognition was given to Ana Villanueva, Angela Cano-Johnson & Jackie Garcia for their commitment to supporting Latinx youth in our community who otherwise would not have access to mental health care. Lindsey MacConnie is Therapist of the Month at Cano Family Services for April 2025!!! Lindsey shared a little bit about herself: “I am a social worker and school-based clinician with a passion for public education; I have worked in a school setting for almost 9 years. I prioritize a strength-based approach in which I create a safe space for client’s and their families. I integrate mindfulness, nature, play, and art into practice.”
Lindsey currently serves as the School-Based Mental Health Therapist at Huntingtowne Farms Elementary School and Starmount Academy of Excellence, both in Charlotte, NC. We appreciate all of the ways that she positively impacts those around her! ♥️

Here is what he shared: I, Derek Carter, am a dedicated Licensed Clinical Social Worker passionate about helping children and families build resilience and achieve lasting positive change. I have been working as a therapist for the past 10 years in various types of settings within the Mecklenburg/Cabarrus area.

As the longest tenured therapist at Cano Family Services, PLLC I take a client-centered, strengths-based approach to therapy, focusing on empowerment, resilience, and collaboration. My style integrates evidence-based practices with a compassionate and culturally responsive perspective, ensuring that each client feels heard, supported, and valued. Whether working with children, adolescents, or families, I emphasize practical strategies to navigate challenges, build coping skills, and foster meaningful growth.

As a proud supporter of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Carolina Panthers, I know the value of perseverance and teamwork—principles I integrate into my practice. And with blue as my favorite color, I find inspiration in its depth, calmness, and endless possibilities.

Happy birthday to us! Today we are 10 years old!!! We’ve served approximately 4,200 clients and their families. We’ve provided probono services in 4 counties, served as an internship site to 35 Bachelor or Master level students, provided school based mental health services across 4 school districts & served our community to the best of our ability. From all 33 of our staff, thank you for trusting us to support you!!

Hi! I’m Kaylee Hoyle, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate who specializes in supporting youth and teens. My practice is rooted in a person-centered approach and I often support clients who are navigating challenges like anxiety, depression, trauma, negative self-esteem, adjustments, and exploring gender identity or sexuality.
