Great reminder as we set goals for the new year.

When so much of what's happening in the world feels out of our control, it can be helpful to pull back and remember what we *can* control. Our boundaries, our energy, and our behavioural responses are all within our own points of influence.

Need help in managing the things you can and can't control? Find a Registered Clinical Counsellor here: https://bcacc.ca/counsellors/

An important reminder around the holidays when the temptation is to buy more toys! Take some time to go through what you already have and prune it! Consider a book exchange with another family, or a cardboard box and a sharpie go a long way!

We're lead to be believe that if a little is good, then more is better. But, the irony is when it comes to toys, the fewer kids have the more they play.

I love this visual, yes and yes.

It’s not the first time we’re hearing and seeing the overwhelm and exhaustion in parents, but it’s a good reminder this time of year when school is in full swing and when taking a breath seems impossible.

What psychological research suggests about how to recognize and overcome it.

You’re not alone mama, and you’re not going crazy. We see you, we hear you, and we understand.

You’re not alone mama, and you’re not going crazy. We see you, we hear you, and we understand.

It never crossed your mind that the smallest things would set you off. You never imagined that you would be keeping score of who’s doing what in your household, leading to feelings of bitterness and disconnection.

To raise an emotionally intelligent child, provide your child ample opportunity to:

☀️authentically feel a range of feelings
☀️have a chance to reflect on their feelings and decisions
☀️problem solve as they grow and learn
☀️observe others experiencing a range of emotions and feelings 😃😌🤪😡😳😤🤩
☀️interact in different social situations (safely)
☀️experience negative feelings without being offered a quick fix (no bribes to make crying stop for example)
