Born from a simple tyre and a powerful bond between a boy and his grandmother in Africa, TIRE BOY is more than a story, it’s the heart of a unique Social Emotional Learning programme created by Amen Iseghohi.
This innovative SEL and alternative provision programme blends guided conversations about emotions, identity, resilience, and wellbeing with physical movement using old car tyres. Between discussion sessions, children lift, roll, jump, and play, releasing energy, building confidence, and learning teamwork in a way that feels natural and fun.
The tyre becomes a symbol of growth. Once discarded, now purposeful. Just like the children who take part.
By combining storytelling, physical activity, and emotional reflection, the programme supports mental wellbeing, self-regulation, focus, and positive relationships, especially for children who thrive outside traditional classroom settings.
TIRE BOY reminds us that powerful change doesn’t need expensive equipment, just creativity, connection, and belief in a child’s potential. 🛞
