ALERT! Aug 8, 2024

Is erythritol linked to blood clots?

A rent study found that drinking a beverage with erythritol more than doubled the risk of blood clotting, whereas sugar did not have the same effect. What's alarming is that this result was observed with just a single serving of 30 grams of erythritol, an amount typically found in sugar-free sodas or muffins.

Even if you use Stevia or other "healthy" sugar substitutes, if you read the label you'll see Erythritol, often as the main ingredient. While it is organic, it is used to bulk up your sugar substitutes.

The recent study is very compelling and disturbing and I will be looking for other options.

The artificial sweetener erythritol increased potential for blood clotting compared to sugar, Cleveland Clinic researchers found in a new study.
