Peek Vision

Peek Vision Making the invisible, visible. Over a billion people worldwide have preventable or curable vision impairment and rates are rising.

We work in partnership with health providers, NGOs and governments - together our vision is to bring better vision and health to everybody. For most cases, there are simple, cost effective treatments like cataract operations or glasses, yet they are out of reach. Peek and our partners are breaking down the barriers to receiving eye health care for the people who need it most.

Congratulations to the team from Operation Eyesight Universal in Kenya who have become the latest organisation to be Certified in Peek software user training!

This means they can now train others to use our smartphone-based vision screening and data capture tools with confidence, enabling them to scale up programme activities more quickly and efficiently.

Since launching Peek Certification last year, we’ve now celebrated certifying teams from 10 organisations across five countries:

College of Ophthalmology and Allied Vision Sciences, KEMU, Lhr
Sindh Institute of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences - SIOVS, Hyderabad (Pakistan)
Dr Shroff's Charity Eye Hospital (India)
Ruharo Mission Hospital (Uganda)
Vision Action (Ghana)
And in Kenya, The Fred Hollows Foundation (Embu County), PCEA Kikuyu Hospital(Kiambu County), AIC Health Ministries (Meru County), AGC Tenwek Hospital (Bomet County)

We’re thankful to partner with brilliant eye health organisations who are delivering impactful programmes in the communities where they work

👁️ Earlier this year, we joined hundreds of delegates in Nepal for the global eye health community’s flagship event, VISION 2020/IAPB 2030 IN SIGHT LIVE, co-hosted by our partner Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh (NNJS).

🇳🇵 The event showcased Nepal’s strong leadership in eye health and the progress being made to reduce avoidable blindness and vision loss. Since 2021, we’ve been proud to support NNJS in their work to increase access to eye care services and integrate primary eye care into government health systems.

📈 To date, over 329,000 people have had their vision screened using Peek in Nepal, with more than 19,000 connected to the eye care they need. Scale-up plans are underway to reach even more communities.

💡 Together, we’re using digital screening and real-time data insights to drive measurable improvements in eye health for people in Nepal.

👓 Building school eye health programmes? Check the fridge first.

Before designing new services, it’s essential to understand the need and what’s already there. Just like you’d check the fridge before heading to the shop.

In this new blog for the VISION 2020/IAPB, Peek's Dr Priya Morjaria shares how the School Eye Health Rapid Assessment (SEHRA) is helping shape a more strategic, data-led approach to school eye health.

✅ Guiding evidence-based planning
✅ Supporting advocacy efforts grounded in data
✅ Revealing significant regional differences in eye health needs
✅ Enabling quality measurement to monitor progress

The year is already flying by, but we’re taking a moment to look back on all that was accomplished last year in collaboration with our partners and funders.

In 2024 we saw:

👁️ 18 new Peek-powered school and community eye health programmes
✅ 5.3 million people screened by our partners across all programmes
📈 48% increase in people screened compared to 2023
👓 500,000 people connected to the care they need
📱 395 new users trained on Peek software across our partners
🤝🏾 3 new Peek programme partners

While there’s much to be optimistic about, we’re mindful of the challenges and uncertainty ahead which make collective action all the more important.

This we're shining a light on eye health as an essential part of universal health care. Good vision unlocks potential — helping children learn, adults earn, and contributing to reduced poverty and inequality. It’s a key driver in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

90% of vision loss can be prevented or treated, often with something as simple as pair of glasses or a cataract operation. Yet more than a billion people still can't access eye care services.

At Peek, we're working with our partners to use software and data insights to strengthen eye health services so that more people can get the life-changing treatment they need.
