Moms living with the heartbreak of having an adult child struggling with drug and alcohol addiction, will have a care group to be a part of. The support group start time is 6:30 pm, and will be hosted by Down the Road Ministries, in Smithfield NC.

The first Thursday sessions of each month will provide education followed by support and sharing. The second Thursday sessions will provide a guest speaker followed by support and sharing.

Moms - please feel free to invite safe family and friends who have been a strength for you to this initial meeting.

We would appreciate your kind effort to share this post so we may saturate hope and strength to Moms in Johnston and neighboring counties. You are not alone in this journey.

With great sadness we honor another young man as a JoCo Angel.

Jacob Daniel Lipscomb

Jacob was a beautiful soul who loved his family and friends so much. Jacob was kind and gentle and would give you the shirt off of his back. Through out his struggle with addiction, Jacob expressed a strong desire to be able to overcome this horrible disease. Unfortunately, that was not his story and the world lost his bright, shining light on August 23, 2025.

Jacob would want anyone who is struggling with addiction to seek help and understand that there is no safe drug out there anymore. If you are struggling please contact us and allow us to give you resources and support. Please allow us to help you.

In honor of Jacob, JoCo Angels was honored to sponsor a young man to recovery at Hope Center Ministries this week. We asked that you pray for Jacob’s family as they walk through the journey of grief, and we asked that you lift up this young man as he begins his journey of recovery. May God be with all of them.

Your survival gives hope to someone else silently wondering if they can make it too.
You may not realize it, but the fact that you’re still standing—even with the scars, even with the tears—becomes a light for someone else’s darkness.

There’s somebody watching your journey, not to judge you, but to see if it’s possible to live through what they’re living through. And when they see you pushing forward, even if it’s messy, even if it’s slow, they see proof that survival is possible.
