Just a gal and her rescues, embracing a crazy life and sharing what we love and learn along the way. Tami heads up the Crazy and owns a pet nutrition business.
In support of the homeless or ailing, we will always be a voice for the voiceless. Livin' the Crazy is a community dedicated to celebrating the "crazy" that occurs in a life dedicated to our furry friends. She also slangs insurance as her full-time side hustle. She has been deeply involved in the rescue community in AZ and will forever have a passion for homeless dogs and cats in need. There are 4 canine & 4 feline rescues (plus a resident feral kitty) that make up our crazy family. Chronologically they are:
- Romeo (15yo); Ragdoll/Siamese
- Juliet (14yo); DMH kitty
- Murphy (8yo); Shihtzu
- Sonny (7yo); Sh*tzu mix
- Aliekat (7yo); Lynx point siamese
- Olivia (7yo); Maltese/Yorkie/Shihtzu mix
- Enzo (6yo); All American 'who knows' mixed up adorable mutt
- Bentley (4mo); Polydactyl gray tabby
- Mama Mercedes (1y'ish); Bentley's Mama, and a feral who stays outside
Our guardian angels, that await us at the Rainbow Bridge, are Daisy (neapolitan mastiff) and Cookie (brown tabby).

We had a great night at the Monster Mash trunk/treat event at .gilbert . Liv absolute NAILED her "lady bug stuffed animal" costume. 🤣 If you live in the area, check out their profile... They have sooo many events, especially for the kiddos. We'll be back for their Christmas event!

The sassy look I get when I tell Murphy to "get on the runner!" for the 18th time today. 🤦🏽♀️ For some god-only-knows reason, he'd rather stand on the tile with his back end slipping out from under him. He absolutely REFUSES to do anything that would help himself. He's always been a lot of work, but SUPER SENIOR Murphy is a whole other level.

Took old man (snuggly) Murphy out with last night to the flash tat fundraiser at . [and thoroughly wore him OUT!] Adoptable pups, woodfired pizza and a beautiful night on the patio. AND a little somethin' somethin' for my sweet heart angel kitty Romeo. Not a single day goes by that I don't miss his hugs. 🩵💔

Enzo and I helped celebrate Kingston"s FIFTH birthday tonight. Happy Birthday Handsome!!! Enzo was totally unsure of the homemade cupcakes, until one was on the dash of a moving vehicle, then it was ALL he wanted in the entire world. 🤷🏽♀️ was a great vibe for a Friday night hang. Outdoor dog park with drinks, food and the most well behaved stranger dogs I've ever seen in a confined space. Perfection! We'll be back!

At the human equivalent of 84, she's earned a ride halfway through our morning hike. 🤷🏽♀️ That little face though, me oh my... 🥰 The desert was perfectly beautiful and moody today. Thx for getting us out there ! xoxo

Enzo.. The one with the bluest of peepers, the boopiest of noses and the most fluttery of eyelashes. If he were human, he'd be the one your mama warned you about. ☠️ 🥰

And last, but certainly not least, the baby of the crazy crew, and the naughtiest of mutant kitties, 5yo Sir Bentley.
He's 19+ lbs of pure mischief, aided and abetted by his extra toes, which seem to make him a particularly adept hunter. I pity the gecko, bird, or rodent that wanders into kitty heaven (the outdoor cat enclosure), as they often don't make it back out unscathed. His prowess is undermined only by his inability to stay quiet when he drags his victims into the house, which gives said victims a 50/50 chance of being rescued and re-released by yours truly. It's a game I'd REALLY rather not play!
It's taken him 5years, but he's finally starting to seek me out for affection, despite the fact that I've been in his life since he LITERALLY popped out of his feral mama. 🤷🏽♀️ His favorite game of late is to sit about a foot away from me, head cocked, patiently waiting for me to notice and bestow pets or (on a good day) break out the brush.
He's also happens to be the absolute KING of the slow eye blink. I love you too buddy. 💚

Ms Juliet... still as photogenic ever! 19 years, 4 months, and two days old. How she managed to be the oldest of the OG crazy crew is truly beyond me.
Her only medically treatable ailment is low thyroid, beyond that it's mild kidney disease (of course), and a few creaky joints. However she doesn't let it keep her from climbing on the counter (on her own personal staircase) to yell at me for her Hydracare treat ABSOLUTELY EVERY TIME I'm in the kitchen. (I should've bought stock in that stuff.)
Her eyesight isn't the best these days... She's fallen off that counter and stopped my heart more times than I care to count, but apparently even a 19yo kitty lands on their feet (almost always).
She's completely given up on grooming, we have to trim her old-lady-thick nails monthly, and have a groomer come shave her down a couple times a year. Both of which she HATES but she's also very Dory'esque these days so she forgives and forgets with comical speed. (I trimmed her nails this am, plunked her on the counter to give her a reward treat, she climbed down in a huff (without said treat), but by the time she got to the bottom... she realized I was in the kitchen with treats in hand and promptly climbed back up... "hey! is it treat time?" 🤷🏽♀️ 🤣
I do so 💚 this old cranky girl, who's always got just a smidge of food on her nose saved up for later, and who very clearly simply tolerates the rest of us in Romeo's absence. We're not the same but I guess we'll do.

Murph has had a rough few days... His arthritic shoulder has been giving him fits. He's always had terrible bones/joints and aging most definitely isn't helping.
The first two pics are his current state, high af, with what WAS his prescribed dose of gabapentin... Based on his level of dopiness and ataxia, we're gonna have to go down a level. 😬 Though he truly is feeling NO pain. 🤣
The last two are Murphy being Murphy, and standing everywhere BUT on the grippy runners. Because... Why would he?!? I'm sure it's fun having your back end slide out from underneath you every second on the tile. 😡 Plus, where's the 'stressin mama out' in THAT?!? (If I had a dime for every time I've repositioned him on a runner...)
And the last clip is just a showcase of the day in/day out vocalization of his utter dissatisfaction with his lot in life (ESPECIALLY on lock down).
Oy, old dogs are somethin'. Old dog shihtzus are somethin' ELSE!!

Then there's old blue eyes. 🥰 Enzo really is a basset hound masquerading as a fluffernutter. He is THE MOST food motivated dog I've ever had and the fact that I don't have him doing headstands is fairly shameful. 🤣 Aside from his asymptomatic Valley Fever a couple of years ago (which we're hoping stays at bay moving forward), he is the puppiest of 11yo seniors, showing absolutely no sign of slowing down. He's still skittish with new things, but vastly improved these last 10yrs, thanks in large part to the possibility of food as a reward. 😉 AND the borrowed courage of Liv. She's definitely his emotional support animal, preferring her to me 90% of the time. 🤷🏽♀️

Olivia, aka Liv, Livalina, Liv Liv, Olivia Newton John 😉... is somehow already 12! She remains the absolute best of divas, loving her Mama but preferring everybody else to admire from a distance. 👑 Her only real challenge is that as she's aged, she's grown more and more anxious. Wind, unexpected sounds, fireworks (of course), and even sometimes my long work days can all send her into such a state that she makes herself sick with diarrhea, vomiting and inappetance. Eternally grateful for some home remedies that largely get her back on track in short order. Most dogs eventually lose hearing as they age, but I'm certain that Murphy's Law will have Liv hearing a pin drop into perpetuity. 🤦🏽♀️

It might be the "I stuck my tongue in an outlet" look that makes you say "awwww..." but for me, it's the little gray around that one big sweet brown eye that absolutely melts my heart. 🥰
Sonny has had a rough, rough 18mos between pancreatitis, pneumonia, intermittently chronic diarrhea, permanently scarred lungs (likely from too much time outdoors in previous homes, or the result of an unknown/untreated trauma), and atypical (and aggravating) irritable bowl disease... this kid has rolled with the punches despite at times feeling absolutely awful for days if not weeks on end. After failing to get his gas production under control with traditional options, we've recently and begrudgingly resorted to steroids and (knock on alllll the wood) to my great relief he is more stable and comfortable than he's been since all this started. (though he is convinced that I'm starving him to death thanks to the 'roids. 😁) Sonny is also in the 12-13yo range, and currently brags about being my greatest expense behind my mortgage. (no joke) Anyone need a one-eyed largely untrained super pawmodel? 😉

We LOVE our furry family, we want to live our best life together, and we can’t help but share what we learn and love with others.

Seven rescues make up the Crazy...
Murphy - 7yo white shihtzu: finicky, bossy, friendly, has a human foot-fetish (haha!)
Sonny - 7’ish yo one-eyed cream/white shihtzu: very vocal, snuggly, excitable
Olivia - 6yo brown morkie’ish mutt: sweet, cooperative, independent, trooper
Enzo - 5yo blue-eyed lhasa mutt: tentative, prefers dogs to people (unless they have food)
Romeo - 14yo ragdoll/siamese mix: loves everybody, vocal, diabetic (in remission)
Juliet - 13yo gray/white dmh beauty: loves to dole out love bites, a big smidge neurotic
Aliekat - 6y cross-eyed lynx point siamese: food motivated, fatty mcfatty pants, & adorable
We have two guardian angels that are waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge, Daisy (neapolitan mastiff) & Cookie (brown tabby).
If you’re here, you love furkids too... in fact, you’re probably a little crazy about them. We love that about you. Here’s to livin’ the crazy!
