July of 2026 will be 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. We have a lot to celebrate. The National Archives has put all the Revolutionary War Pension and Land Bounty records online. To help celebrate our freedom for the last 250 years, they are hoping people will help them transcribe these records. When I first hear about this, I started transcribing some of the records, but then thought that there must be a way for me to transcribe my own family records. I went on a hunt and figured out a fairly simple way to find records of my own family members. This video will show you how to do this. My hope is that many people will join in the search for their own ancestors and help transcribe their ancestors records and in doing so learn something about their ancestors efforts in the war for freedom. Hope you will be able to join us in celebrating 250 years of freedom.

FamilySeardh has an experimental program that helps members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Days find temple ordinances that might need to be completed. This program is also a great research tool.

Having well documented sources helps everyone know what the source is about and makes it easier to recognize why the source was attached. When working with the FamilySearch AI tool, it is likely that you will be adding many sources. The more sources added to the person, the stronger the validation of the person. When there are a lot of sources, it sometimes is difficult to know what is found on those sources. Family Search AI is a wonderful, fantastic tool. It is in experimental stages so will most likely have changes in the future as they continue to improve it. In the meantime, we have the opportunity to use it to quickly find court records, books, military records, etc. about our ancestors and then have them transcribed. The transcriptions are not perfect, but usually good enough to read the document without reading the handwriting. With the click of a button you can find hundreds of records about a specific person in very early records back to the 1700s and possible earlier. If men who served in the Revolutionary War lived long enough (past 1832), they were able to apply for a pension from the United States Government. These records can be found online through the National Archives. These pension applications have written letters telling about their experiences in the Revolutionary war. You might find battles they fought in, others they served with, where they served. Some of the records give their wife's name and sometimes their children's names. The National Archives Catalog is filled with millions of records that we can view online. It just isn't easy to figure out how to search the catalog without getting thousands of results and knowing how to filter it down to a few that are most relevant to your search.
