Colonic polyps are slow-growing overgrowths of the colonic mucosa that carry a small risk (< 1%) of becoming malignant. However, because colonic polyps are highly prevalent in the general population (especially with increasing age), they confer an important predisposition to colon cancer and are therefore removed when detected.

- optimising patient position to achieve best access to the polyp. In this case the patient was placed in the prone position.-
- achieving good lift with submucosal injection.
- using the correct sized snare.
- using appropriate diathermy settings for polypectomy in the thin walled caecum.
- using snaretip SoftCoagulation to treat the edges of the defect.
- using a Coagrasper forceps to control bleeding from the base.
- everting the appendix to check for residual polyp tissue.
- using a clip and line technique with cold snare to deal with residual tissue.
