Distress Tolerance — When You Can’t Fix It, You Survive It

Not everything can be solved in the moment.
Some moments are meant to be survived.

Distress tolerance is the ability to sit with emotional discomfort without making it worse.

It is what keeps you from:
• Sending the text
• Saying the hurtful thing
• Shutting down
• Numbing out
• Spiraling

Distress tolerance is not about liking the feeling.
It’s about not adding fuel to it.

Try this today:
1. Put your feet flat on the floor.
2. Take one slow breath in.
3. Say: “This is uncomfortable, not dangerous.”
4. Wait 90 seconds before reacting.

Most emotional waves peak and pass.

Strength is not reacting impulsively.
Strength is pausing.

🌿 Thursday — Relationship Insight

Relationship Reminder

If you constantly feel anxious in a relationship, pay attention.

Healthy connection feels:
• Safe
• Steady
• Respectful
• Consistent

Confusion is not chemistry.
Intensity is not intimacy.

If you find yourself repeating patterns that leave you drained or doubting yourself, therapy can help you understand the why behind the cycle.

You deserve secure attachment, not survival mode.

🌿 Wednesday — Midweek Reflection

Midweek Pause

Pause for a moment.

Where are you pushing yourself harder than you would push someone you love?

Self-compassion is not weakness.
It is emotional maturity.

You are allowed to:
• Rest without guilt
• Say no without explanation
• Change your mind
• Outgrow people and patterns

Growth is quiet work.

🌿 Tuesday — Anxiety Awareness
Tuesday Check-In
Anxiety is not always loud.
Sometimes it looks like:
• Overthinking conversations
• Replaying mistakes
• Trouble sleeping
• Irritability
• Avoiding decisions
If your mind feels busy but your body feels tired, you may not be lazy. You may be anxious.
Awareness reduces shame.
Support builds change.
You do not have to manage it alone.

🌿 Monday — Mental Health Reset
Monday Reset
A new week does not require a new version of you.
It requires intention.
Instead of asking, “How will I get everything done?”
Try asking, “What actually matters this week?”
Choose three priorities.
Not ten. Not everything. Three.
Mental clarity begins with realistic expectations.
If you start the week already overwhelmed, that is not a productivity problem. It is a nervous system signal.

It’s Saturday.
Not every day has to be productive to be meaningful.

Today can be for:
• Rest
• Reflection
• Resetting your thoughts
• Drinking your coffee while it’s still warm

Healing isn’t always loud.
Sometimes it looks like doing less.

If your nervous system has been in overdrive all week, this is your permission to pause.

What does your version of rest look like today?

Evening Reflection

As today closes, ask:

What went well today?
Where did I show up for myself?
What can I release before tomorrow?

You are not your productivity.
You are not your mistakes.
You are not your worst moment.

Therapy is a space to unpack the weight you carry quietly.

Overthinking Awareness

If your mind has been replaying conversations from earlier today, you are not alone.

Overthinking often comes from:
• Wanting to be understood
• Fear of being judged
• Desire to get it “right”
• Past experiences of criticism

Gently remind yourself:

I did the best I could with what I knew in that moment.

Let your mind rest.

Midday Nervous System Check

Pause.

Unclench your jaw.
Drop your shoulders.
Take one slow breath in.
Hold for four.
Release slowly.

If your afternoon feels tense or rushed, your nervous system may be in survival mode.

You are allowed to reset in the middle of the day.
You do not have to wait until tonight.

Small regulation moments prevent big burnout.

Friday Pause 🌿

As the week comes to a close, take a moment to slow down.

Before you move into the weekend, gently ask yourself:

• What felt heavy this week?
• What did I handle that no one else noticed?
• What do I need right now?

You do not have to earn rest.
You do not have to prove your exhaustion.
You do not have to carry everything alone.

Mental health is not just about crisis. It is also about learning how to pause, reflect, and care for yourself before burnout sets in.

If you have been feeling overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected, or simply tired of holding everything together, therapy can provide space to breathe and process.
