Somatics with Daphne

Somatics with Daphne Daphne is a registered yoga therapist, movement educator, bodyworker, and a specialist in somatic therapy in Asia. www.yogawithdaphne.com

She creates rehab & therapeutic programs and trainings for individuals, movement professionals and healthcare professionals. Holding space during an intensive learning and embodiment journey is a privileged and honourable mission, and one that I always undertake as a sacred learning journey for myself as well. Yoga With Daphne community & training programs is a labour of love. It provides the grou

ndwork where I can build and share my movement therapy, bodywork practice and existential insight for anyone who's on the path seeking for "more" in life. Be it joy, happiness, enlightenment ... or simply a way to figure out how to be healthier and happier. This is a journey towards healing instead of "fixing", of inquiry instead of a means to an end. Yoga with Daphne aims to create a cornerstone for practitioners to effect change so that the study of yoga becomes an exploration on how to live life more lovingly and with more awareness. Yoga with Daphne hopes to spark curiosity and passion in the body-mind connection. Our offerings include remedial tools in movement and touch-based therapies, with an embodied understanding of their effects on the body and mind. These will be programs offered by me or in tandem with many of the wonderful and passionate practitioners who have agreed to bring their brilliance in collaboration with this vision. In addition to these "physical" tools, this is also an avenue where I will also incorporate classical yoga philosophy and modern approaches on living positive life into the holistic program that I offer. Yoga with Daphne (E-RYT500, YACEP, RYS 200, C-AAYT) currently offers trainings, workshops, retreats, Yoga Teacher Training and Yoga Teacher mentorship programs, as well as various Therapeutic Bodywork Modalities.

For those interested in somatic movement education especially through the developmental and nervous system lens, I’m facilitating this Dance Movement Therapy workshop series with DMT company Movemental.

The series will explore developmental patterns, nervous system physiology, creative expressions and relational inquiries.

Let me know if interested!

The body is always in conversation - with gravity, with space, with self and other. In this experiential curriculum, we explore how nervous system awareness and creative movement shape our capacity for connection and relationships. Drawing from Body-Mind Centering®, Contact Improvisation and the po...

Somatics and Embodiment are buzzwords in the yoga and movement community.
With our combined experiences in Yoga, dance, and bodywork, both Lucie Krobová and I hope to contribute a little more to the understanding of Somatic therapy and embodiment in this series of informative posts titled

We feel this is particularly pertinent during this volatile period in which we find ourselves having to surrender our individual agency in serving the greater good of the community we are a part of.
The word “Soma” comes from a Greek origin which translates to “The Living Body”, it’s the cosmic biological intelligence of our life force to self-organise, self regulate through the relational being of our body-mind the moment we are conceived.
Through inquiring into our soma, we begin to explore relationships between the microcosm and the macrocosm we inhabit through processes and body systems. We uncover our self image and gain insights into our habits and neurological patterning to create more choices in our responses to elements and people around us. The practice of embodying our soma calls upon our curiosity to sense and feel and be guided through what is arising from moment to moment.
Working with movement, breathwork, visualisation, touch and sound, this practice helps to regulate the nervous system, boost our immune system, and rewire our brain to move with greater ease and grace through life.
Is there a difference between Somatics and Embodiment?
Somatics is an embodiment practice and to become embodied means we are attuned to our soma. I guess they are inter-related but not exactly synonymous. Meaning that it’s both contextual and conceptual, i.e The embodiment process requires a somatic perspective so that our actions are guided by an authentic, relational intent.

I've been quiet with group offerings the last few years focusing on how my clinical work is evolving - deciding to take a step back - to see how this work could be shaped through new language in light of how our world has changed.

Like a writer who has had to walk away from the typewriter multiple times (yes I'm old :D ) before landing into another stream of consciousness.. something is finally brewing.

Stay tuned for more, and feel free reach out if you have any curiosity or ideas for what is shaping up to be the next phase of my offerings.
