Important Notice – Planned Power Outage

Please note that Arran Medical Group will experience a planned power outage at our Lamlash site on Wednesday 3rd September after 1pm.

Arran Medical Group will be closed from 1pm today (Tuesday 26 August) to carry out staff training. During these times the Ayrshire Urgent Care Service will provide urgent care and support to patients of practices which are closed.

Patients or Community Pharmacies who require to contact a participating GP Practice urgently during the time they are closed for Protected Learning Time should call the Ayrshire Urgent Care Service on 01563 826930.

Everyone within GP Practices are committed to giving patients the best possible care and as part of this, GP Practices may take part in a number of PLT sessions throughout the year which allows them to carry out staff training for the whole practice team.

Please be advised that Shiskine Surgery is currently affected by a water supply issue impacting parts of the island.
🔹 Toilet facilities are currently unavailable at this site.
🔹 All other Arran Medical Group locations remain unaffected at this time.
🔹 This is a developing situation, and updates will be provided as they become available.

Ticks are tiny, spider-like creatures that feed on the blood of birds and mammals, including humans. They’re most active between March and October, but warmer, wetter weather means they can stick around even longer.

While tick bites aren’t usually painful, they can cause:
- Red lumps
- Swelling & itchiness
- Blistering
- Bruising

Some symptoms, like inflammation, may take 2-3 months to appear - so it’s important to stay tick-aware all year round.

GP Practices have public holiday closures on Monday 26th May. Some community pharmacies will remain open during this period and can answer questions on choosing and using the right medicine and provide advice on treating everyday ailments. NHS 24 also has a number of pharmacists who are able to answer medicine and pharmacy-related questions over the telephone on 111.
