The Four World Ages of the Hopi
The Hopi Indians believe in four world ages, each of which ends with a great catastrophe. We are currently living in the fourth age.
1st World Age:
The World of the First People
The first world age began with the creation of the world and ended with a great flood that destroyed the earth. The people of this age lived in harmony with nature and had a deep connection to the ancestors.
2nd World Age:
The World of Destruction
The second world age began after the flood and ended with a great fire catastrophe that destroyed the earth. The people of this age were selfish and destructive and lost their connection to the ancestors.
3rd World Age:
The World of the Ice Age
The third world age began after the fire catastrophe and ended with a great ice age that destroyed the earth. The people of this age were isolated, and fought for survival.
4th World Age:
The world today
The fourth world age began after the ice age and will end with a great spiritual crisis that will present humanity with a choice: either a return to the old values and harmony with nature or further destruction of the earth. The Hopi Indians believe that we are currently in the fourth world age and warn of the consequences of further destruction of the earth. They call for a return to the old values of the ancestors and harmony with nature.
