Carrie Mason Almeida meet the BEST hands in the business, Gillian Pacheco
As some of you might know, my daughter Acelyn is a very active girl between dance, gymnastics, competitions and just being an overall OutSTANDING 10 yr old! All of the flips, twists and landings can take its' toll, so what better way to help reward that hard work than with a massage at Hands on Health. Acelyn walked out of that room with tightness relieved in her wrist, shoulders and soul! A job well done, Gillian Pacheco! We will see you soon- Thanks again!!!

Therapeutic massage to assist with relaxation, general health, blood circulation, respiration, digestive organ congestion and fitness and joint function.

Substantiation for the efficacy of massage has become increasingly available. Most research focuses on the physiological effects of massage, for example: lymphatic flow, blood circulation and muscle function. I use and eclectic approach to treatment of clients, taking individual needs into consideration and facilitate the relationship between the manipulation of tissues and body systems. I use energy work, palpation, various clinical, Swedish, Acupressure, and Trigger Point techniques and a few techniques borrowed from other good therapists.

Update from The AMTA ….
“COVID-19 Reopening Resources for Massage Therapists
As we cautiously look to the future, many massage therapists have questions about when and how they can begin caring for their clients again. AMTA has been actively engaging with federal and state agencies, as they consider reopening strategies, to provide consultation, information and feedback on their processes; understanding they will vary greatly from state-to-state.
We are a diverse profession and in some states those decisions are near; for others they may be further away.
When your state allows you to reopen, whether or not you choose to return to work is a personal decision. There are many factors to consider when deciding to return to work, including how your community (and client base) has been affected, your own vulnerability to the virus (along with those you live with), and the physical, mental and financial factors involved. Each individual will need to fully assess their own unique situation to decide what feels right for them.
Unfortunately, even with the most rigorous sanitation protocols, enhanced client screening, and social distancing precautions, there is still risk of COVID-19 transmission involved. For this reason, we ask that you choose your restart date carefully, and encourage you to gain a full understanding of new laws and ordinances at the local, state and national levels, and adjust your practice.”
cannot, by law, set a reopening date until these protocols can be reviewed and implemented. Thank you for your patience and understanding. I will be sure to keep you up- to- date on all pertinent information regarding this matter as it becomes available.

Tension-type headache (TTH) is the most common type of benign primary headache affecting 3% of the population.

The International Headache Society (IHS) characterises TTH as bilateral (both sides at once)

They may last from 30 minutes to 7 days, are not accompanied by nausea or vomiting, but may include sensitivity to light or noise - but not both.

These headaches are associated with a high frequency of trigger points in the sub-occipital muscles. These small short muscles make minute adjustments to the top two neck bones (C1 & C2). Because we need to keep ears level for balance, any changes in posture or from stress or tension elsewhere in the body will tend to accumulate in this zone.

The image shows the sub occipital muscles and trigger point pain map for the obliquus capitis superior.

Supraspinatus is one of the key muscles involved in shoulder problems.
-degenerative changes in the tendon caused by both overload and ‘under load'
It is part of the rotator cuff, comprised of supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor, and subscapularis.

The rotator cuff helps to centre the head of the humerus in contact with the glenoid cavity of the scapula during movements of the shoulder, to prevent dislocation of the joint. Suprapspinatus tendon is vulnerable to a number of injuries and its incidence increases with age. Tendonitis should be treated like a fracture but generally the Supraspinatus responds well to trigger point therapy, self help and stretching.

3. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) includes gloves, goggles, face shields, masks and gowns. While engineering and administrative controls are considered more effective in minimizing exposure for your office staff, massage therapists are at a higher risk of exposure due to the extent of time working in close proximity to another person.

The use of PPE depends largely on what your local government advises and if you feel that is not enough, then add to it. It is your responsibility to ensure you and your clients are comfortable, while at the same time not exposing yourself or your employees to an OSHA violation.

Hamstrings tight? Read here, how it effects your cervical (neck) vertebrae! Read up and RELAX on the table.
I will always tell you, it is all connected!!!!!
Hamstrings can cause lower back pain, upper back pain and neck pain. So when you say, I just want my back done, I encourage you to let me figure it out.
Tight hamstrings put drag (pulling force) on the upper back, forcing your head forward. For each inch your head is projected forward, your head gains 10lbs of equivalent needed force to turn properly. This persistent pressure, over time, causes tightness, pain, and bulging or herniated discs; most likely resulting in nerve discomfort.

Me: immediately stop working “What? Does this hurt “

Patient: “No....I’m trying to say...that your fingers are different than anyone else’s. They cut through like a hot knife through butter.

Me: “Whew! I thought you were saying I am Edward ScissorHands.”

We laughed and I finished working...

tight IT (iliotibial band)???
--not a muscle but muscles insert into the IT band
--it is a band made of other muscles.
--two big muscles comprising the IT band are the Gluteus Maximus (GM) and Tensor Fascia Latae (TFL). The Gluteus Maximus inserts into the band from the back of the hip and the Tensor Fascia Latae from the front. The insertion point, where it ends, of the IT band is at the knee joint with the Gluteus Maximus connection inserting at Peroneus Longus and the Tensor Fascia Latae connecting to Tibialis Anterior.
Therefore, themost common cause of knee pain is an imbalance of these muscles that act on the IT band.

Deep tissue, relaxation, reiki, cupping, acupressure, reflexology, etc

Cupping started with TCM. It’s like deep tissue massage in reverse. The Western physiology perspective: cupping loosens connective tissue or fascia and draws blood flow to the surface. This stimulates tissue relaxation and better cell-to-cell communication. U.S. physiologist and acupuncturist Helene Langevin documented cell-level changes using an ultrasound camera and demonstrated that techniques like cupping, acupuncture, and massage relax tissue and reduce markers of inflammation. The Inflammatory cytokines (chemical messengers) are greatly decreased and cytokines that promote healing and relaxation are increased.
Used along the spine, pressure is removed from spinous processes and the patient can feel the the restorative flow...
Patient: “I feel so relaxed. My legs feel a lot better. I actually feel like I can walk without pain. I feel so much better.”
