We purchase high quality food, high quality material items, high quality supplements - why not “purchase” high quality thoughts?

The more you think negative thoughts, the more you will see a negative life. Negative thoughts look for problems - positive thoughts look for solutions.

It wasn’t until I’ve learned about the power of thoughts affecting our biology that I’ve felt confident and in control of my health (physical, mental and emotional). When I learned to change the thoughts about my body failing me, I found solutions to getting my body back in balance so much quicker and easier.

The most important thing that comes to your health is paying attention to what is going on in that mind of yours. If you are not mindful of that voice in your head, negative thought will dominate. I’m hungry. I’m bored. I’m stressed. I’m tired. This is part of our survival.

But you can change those thoughts. You can change your brain cells. You can heal your brain. You have the power and choice to do this. This is called neuroplasticity.

Neuroplasticity, the ability to change your brain, reflects your current environment.

If your environment is filled with busyness or stress, your brain will continue to rewire with busyness and stress.

If your environment is filled with calmness, peace, happiness, your brain will continue to rewire with calmness, peace, and happiness.

You get to choose.
You get to choose how you start your day.
You get to choose how intentional you want to be with your health.
You get to choose the words you speak and the thoughts you think.

You may not get to control everything or everyone around you, but you can choose how you show up in this world. ♥️

Only wore sunscreen once and didn’t get burnt! 🙌🏼

(which is quite impressive coming from fair skin that hasn’t seen the sunshine in several months) 👏🏼

My secret? Small exposures in the sun throughout the day, staying well hydrated, lots of lycopene rich foods (they can help protect your skin), minimal sunglass use (sunglasses block ability to produce right amounts of melanin for sun protection). ☀️

The reasons I’m excited about minimal sunscreen use? More vitamin D exposure, not looking like Casper since natural sunscreen sucks, and no exposure to the harmful chemicals in “normal” sunscreen. 🙃

Have you ever considered having a “food value system?” A certain food that you know you want to avoid because you prioritize your health. A food that’s easy to avoid because you’ve made up your mind you’re just not going to eat it? If you have one, comment below. 👇🏼

For me, it’s artificial dyes and colors. 🙅🏽‍♀️

It’s just not worth it to me. And once I made up my mind to avoid foods with these ingredients, I’m not tempted to consume them. I treat it like I have an allergy to it. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Hopefully the FDA will continue to ban these carcinogenic, neurotoxic, obesogen ingredients, but until then, I will do my best to avoid them at all costs. Which means that Isla has to avoid them too. Which means her birthday cake had zero artificial colors. 🙃

Is it the prettiest cake? No, but it was made with lots of love and that’s what matters most. 😜

The pumpkin soup from Eat Like a Girl was a big hit yesterday! My family didn’t even know that I used bone broth instead of vegetable broth (until now). 😜

I can’t wait to keep diving into these delicious recipes. Up next are the chia protein bars…🤤

Sold my mom and sister on matcha today with this little flight. 👏🏼

I just love how it makes my brain feel. It’s a nice little brain booster without the jitters or crash. I can drink it in the afternoon and not have it affect my sleep. And if you watched my earlier matcha reels, it stops blood flow to cancer cells. 🤯

Matcha is also great to swap out for coffee the week before your period since you’re extra sensitive to cortisol that time of the month. Coffee = cortisol. Not saying coffee is bad (I love it and drink 1-2 cups of half caff most days), but it does raise cortisol levels in most people.

This matcha flight was:
-French vanilla iced matcha
-pumpkin spice iced matcha
-cacao mint matcha

No sunday scaries over here. 🍵🙃

Learning about the power of nutrition is what led me down the wellness path almost 15 years ago. I was obsessed with understanding how food affected the human body, and after seeing how much my health changed after eating better, I just couldn’t get enough.

Throughout the years I’ve ventured into learning about other healing modalities and have found it so easy to get caught up in shiny object syndrome or the latest fad. What I love and appreciate most about Eat Like a Girl is that it helped respark my original love of nutrition and nourishing the body with what we eat.

If you want to learn how to eat for your hormones, eat to feel better, eat to lose weight, and/or eat to nourish and love the body you’re living in, this book is for you. The challenge is not to be perfect. The challenge is to be whole. To be present. ♥️

This little girl is changing so fast before my eyes. She helps me remember to be present and to stay in a place of joy. She’s helped me heal from perfectionism, and has reminded me of how precious the little day to day moments are. Our kids truly are our best teachers, aren’t they? 🥺

Well this was a fun little, last minute dessert idea that turned out absolutely delicious (and actually great for the gut!). 😋

Local vanilla coconut kefir
Organic raspberries
Crushed honey cinnamon sweet thins

It’s just missing some chocolate chips on top. Next time. 🤤

You could probably even use vanilla Greek yogurt (or plain Greek yogurt with vanilla protein powder) instead of the kefir if you can’t find a vanilla coconut kefir near you. 🙃

A little food inspiration for healthy hormones and a happy mama!

Southwestern Burger Wrap: 🍔
-grass-fed beef (contains minerals for hormone production)
-guacamole (contains healthy fat for hormone production)
-sautéd peppers and onions (contains polyphenols for breaking down hormones - you have to break down your hormones to use them!)
-black beans & cubed squash (help with hormone production AND hormone break down) 🙌🏼

The world can wait when you realize you’re their entire world. ♥️♥️

I saw post this quote a few weeks ago and it totally touched my heart. Kids grow up way too fast, and while we can’t slow down time, we can be mindful of being more present with them. Time does seem to slow when we intentionally stay in the moment. My biggest tip for staying present? Get off the damn phone. 😆 (which is ironic that my phone is right next to me but I promise I hardly had it with me last night)

Here are 4 super easy tips to reduce screen time:

-turn your phone off or on do not disturb at certain times of the day; I always turn mine off at least 30 min before I go to bed.
-consider a safe sleeve; this will cut down on EMF exposure and I find if I keep the cover closed I check my phone a lot less.
-don’t carry your phone with you everywhere; it’s okay to leave it in the other room and take your time getting back to people. 🙃
-intentionally leave your phone away from your kiddos. I purposely leave my phone in the other room while nursing or contact napping so I’m not tempted.

Life is more enjoyable when we cherish these precious moments. Stay present. ✨

This weekend was full of good food, great company, and lots of rest. My heart (and belly) are full. ♥️♥️

One of my favorite ways makes chicken is by breading it with and throwing it in the air fryer. He mixes the breading with seasoning (paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, sea salt, pepper), and then coats the chicken in an egg wash before coating the chicken with the breading/seasoning mix. It’s so dang good, and looks so easy (since I watch from the sidelines). 😂🙃
