Today is National Kids and Pets Day (yes, it’s a real thing) and if you have either (or both), you know that keeping up with them can be exhausting. Part of our goal at Helix is to get you in shape so that when the kids and/or pets collapse, you still have plenty of energy left. That’s what functional fitness is all about.

Trade-in pain for performance. All of our classes are taught by Certified Functional Strength Coaches (CFSC). Each session is designed to improve functional strength to help you with everyday tasks like lifting heavy items up to a shelf or carrying a bulky item around the house.

What everyday tasks in your life cause pain or soreness? Drop a comment below and we will share some recommendations on how to avoid aching muscles and stiffness in the future.

Great feedback keeps us motivated and we appreciate the support of our members and our community. Thanks, David for your kind words. Now was it Rossini or Vivaldi you wanted to hear?

Strong women are inspiring and we're proud to celebrate our members during Women's History Month. Yet another reminder that strength and functional fitness go hand in hand.

We don’t look like this. Most people don’t look like this. But mention “going to the gym” and this is the image that comes to a lot of minds.

Let’s change that perception together. Let’s make going to the gym about having fun, getting fit, and staying healthy.

If you develop some muscles along the way, then break out the tank tops and show them off. We promise we won't judge you.

Part of being functionally fit is the ability to do everyday things. Like open jars or zip up a zipper. Grip strength is something you can work on with something as simple as a stress or squeeze ball. Simply exercising your hand can help you maintain grip strength and avoid osteoarthritis.

Dr. Kathy (Motus Physical Therapy NW) has some excellent exercises you can use to work on your grip in the video linked to in the comments.
