This year’s GHI Conference is generating buzz around the globe — and for good reason. Many have booked flights to attend the event. Others are asking: “Will there be a recording?” or “Can we attend virtually?”

The program offers a rare, live-only opportunity to witness somatic therapy in action with survivors of October 7th. These exclusive demos reveal how body-based psychotherapy helps clients navigate severe PTSD, while also showing the therapist’s inner process in real time — staying present, regulating, and guiding clients through moments of collapse.

These sessions are unlike anything else in clinical training: therapists will observe real-world application of body-based psychotherapy in some of the most severe cases of PTSD.

Because of the sensitive content, there will be no virtual option or recording.

Spaces are limited — don’t miss this extraordinary experience.

Register at https://gethelpisrael.com/mental-health-conference-2025/

(Demos are presented with clients’ consent for training and educational purposes).

💔 Get Help Israel - The Israel Association of Mental Health Professionals mourns the loss of Roei Shalev, a Nova festival survivor who died by su***de on Friday.

The headlines say he “took his life.”
We want to gently correct that to say "died by su***de" - because language matters.
“Took” implies choice and blame. “Died” acknowledges suffering and the need for compassion.

Roei’s final words strike deep into the heart and give a glimpse of the immense suffering he's endured for the last 2 years:

I’m truly sorry
I can’t bear this pain anymore
I’m burning inside
And I can no longer handle it
In my life, I have never felt pain and suffering
So deep and consuming
It’s eating me from within
I really can’t take it anymore
Dad, Lior, and Ido, I love you
More than anything in the world
I’m so sorry
My friends, in Israel and around the world, I love you
Keshat, I love you
Please, don’t be angry with me
Please, I beg you
No one will ever understand me
And that’s okay, because you can’t understand
I just want this suffering to end
I’m alive, but inside, everything is dead
Please, remember the good in me
Whoever got to know me enough
Knows that I was all good
Sorry 💔

Roei’s words speak for countless trauma survivors — those living with pain too deep for words, and those we have lost to it.
As professionals, as community members, as human beings, this is a tragic reminder that we must do better at listening, noticing, and reaching out. At the same time, it reminds us that sometimes, the suffering someone carries is so immense that, despite our care and presence, we cannot always shield them from it. Our care, presence, and compassion still hold meaning, even when the pain someone carries is beyond what we can ease.

To Roei’s family, and to all families who have lost someone to su***de: we mourn with you, we honor your loved ones, and we hold you in our hearts.

We live in a world full of noise. We hear the words “mental health,” but do we see it?

Awareness is polite. Understanding is fierce. Understanding whispers into the quiet corners of our minds, recognizes the tremors beneath a smile, honors the battles no one talks about.

When we truly understand, stigma crumbles. When we truly understand, we act with patience, presence, and courage. We reach out before it’s too late, we listen when no one else does, we hold space without judgment.

Today, choose to move beyond noticing. Move beyond talking. Move into deep, radical understanding. Do it for yourself and for those around you. This is how we begin to create change.

Mental health is not a concept. It is how we live, how we love, how we show up fully in the world. 💚

A gentle reminder as we approach the Yom Kippur fast:

For those who have experienced or are currently struggling with an eating disorder, the mitzvah of fasting is not always black and white. Fasting can sometimes awaken old patterns or trigger feelings that make it difficult to stay grounded in recovery and in health.

If this is something you relate to, please know that you are not alone. It’s important to approach the question of fasting with mindfulness, compassion toward yourself, and the guidance of both professional and rabbinic support.

Halachah has room for complexity and nuance, especially when mental health is at stake. If you are unsure how to navigate this, consider speaking with a rabbi who is well-versed in these issues, such as Rabbi Yoni Rosensweig at https://mnefesh.org/, so you can explore what is right for your unique situation.

Your wellbeing matters. Taking the time to have this conversation can help ensure you are honoring both your health and your spiritual commitments in a way that is safe and sustainable.

We wish you and your loved ones a Gmar Chatima Tova - may you be sealed in the book of life, healing, strength, safety, and growth.

10/09/2025

I don’t know the exact weight you’re carrying, but I do know this: you matter more than you realize. I need you to hear that, even if part of you doesn’t believe it right now. I’d rather risk saying the wrong thing than stay silent and leave you feeling alone with the pain you’re carrying.

I don’t want a world without you in it. The truth is, life can feel unbearably heavy at times, but the fact that you are here, even in this struggle, is proof of your strength. Your story isn’t finished yet, and there are still chapters waiting for you that you can’t yet see.

I’m not asking you to erase your pain or force yourself to feel hopeful overnight. I’m simply asking you to keep going. To give yourself the chance to discover what tomorrow might bring. To trust that even if you can’t feel it right now, there are people who care deeply and who would walk beside you through the hardest parts.

You are loved. You are needed. You are not a burden. Please don’t carry this alone. Reach for someone you trust, let someone step in with you. I'm here with you. And if you can’t find the words, it’s enough to simply say, “I need help.”

Your life matters more than you may ever know. Please stay.

----------------------------------

If someone in your life is struggling, please don’t hold back. You don’t need the perfect words. Your care and presence already mean so much. Reaching out can feel tender and even scary, but your willingness to start the conversation might be exactly what helps them feel less alone. The example above offers a few ways you could begin.

You Deserve Care You Can Trust!

When you reach out for emotional support, you’re placing your well-being in someone else’s hands. At GHI, we don’t take that trust lightly.

That’s why we have expanded GHI's Ethics Committee - a team of experienced professionals who make sure that the therapists in our network are practicing with the highest level of integrity and care.

✔️ The committee provides guidance to therapists on ethical challenges.
✔️ Reviews concerns with compassion for both clients and therapists.
✔️ Upholds GHI's official Code of Ethics for all professional members.

Choosing a therapist through GHI means choosing someone who is not only dedicated to their own professional practice, but also supported by our association’s added layer of accountability and ethical guidance.

At GHI, your well-being is always our first priority. 💚
