The Richmond StepStone Office is getting an early start on donations to our foster kids for Christmas. Every child deserves a special gift and to feel like they are wanted. An unfortunate statistic that we’re dedicated to changing: 1 in 4 young adults transitioning out of foster care will experience homelessness between the ages of 19 and 21.

Providing youth in foster care with skills they need to support themselves is one of the most important ways to prepare them for adulthood. This is why we provide Life Skills Coaching and personalized care plans, covering everything from career counseling to medication management.

Stepstone Prestonsburg is so excited to be partnering with the Kentucky Career Center! We met this morning to set up some amazing workshops for our youth to prepare them for career success to include - obtaining a state ID, filling out a fasfa, building a resume, applying for jobs, and meeting key community leaders! We are thrilled to welcome Anna and Lonnie Hall to our foster parent community! They officially opened with us on July 8th and brought with them five wonderful children who are already brightening our world.

Anna and Lonnie are no strangers to fostering — they bring many years of experience and a deep well of knowledge, compassion, and dedication. Their long-standing commitment to supporting children and families is truly inspiring, and we are so grateful to have them join our team.

A Heartfelt Thank You to the Prestonsburg Fire Department

A couple of weeks ago, in the middle of a scorching 95-degree day, the incredible team at the Prestonsburg Fire Department stepped up in a big way — installing three car seats for our foster children.

They didn’t hesitate. Despite the intense heat, they patiently took the time to ensure every seat was installed correctly, every harness was safe and snug, and every detail was double-checked. Their kindness, professionalism, and genuine care made all the difference.

It may have seemed like a routine part of their day, but to us, it meant everything. Knowing our kids are safe because of their dedication brings us such peace of mind.

Thank you, Prestonsburg Fire Department, for going above and beyond — not just for us, but for so many in this community. You are true hometown heroes. ❤️🚒👶

Therapeutic recreation is kind of like sneaking veggies into dinner — but we’re slipping mental and physical skill building into fun!

Therapy can be incorporated into physical activities, art, outside time, and more. ⚽️ 🎨 🌳

Ask your case manager for suggestions if you think therapeutic recreation might be a good fit for the child in your care!
