Advanced Genomic Solutions (AGS) Limited was established to develop and operate a state-of-the art genomics-testing laboratory in Hong Kong. AGS will use the latest technology to empower customers and physicians to make more informed health choices, improve their lives, and save medical expenses. The Human Genome Project (HGP) was one of the great feats of exploration in medical history. Completed in 2003, the HGP gave us the ability, for the first time, to read nature’s complete genetic blueprint for building a human being. One of the most effective technologies derived from HGP is Pharmacogenomics (PGx.) PGx is the study of how an individual’s genetic makeup affects their response to drugs. Pharmacogenomics testing is a breakout, disruptive technology that will forever change the “one size fits all” prescribing of medication. The FDA calls PGx “personalized medicine.” PGx utilizes patient-specific genomic markers to select the appropriate treatment for ensuring drug efficacy while minimizing the risk of toxicity.
