Hydrops Fetalis Awareness What is this page? This is a page to support awareness of Hydrops Fetalis. There are MANY causes, but only few ways of treatment.

Made because when the doctor tells you that your baby has hydrops fetalis it is usually something you never heard of; so you google.... and tons of medical sites and terrifying me Hydrops Fetalis is a condition where fluid accumulates in a unborn baby in two or more areas. It is horrifying that some doctors just give up and encourage parents to have an abortion (or to induce labor and deliver the

baby when they are far too under developed to survive.) That is why we share these stories! There are SO many babies who survive after being given a fatal diagnosis, that is wrong and these wrong diagnosis's need to stop. Our babies are not medical cases they are living children. These babies are fighters, please find a doctor you trust, someone who will do all they can for your baby, and please don't give up. If you have a Hydrops blog, article, story please share with us :)

We share as many survivors stories that we can, because after the diagnosis parents turn to google, only to find a mix of medial terms along with all the stories of loss. These Angels are the ones who show all the reasons we need more research and more doctors on our side. If you are carrying a baby with Hydrops Fetalis feel free to message

BEGINNING FETAL HYDROPS FROM AN APAS MOTHER SPONTANEOUSLY RESOLVED❤️

Mommy J G2P0(0010) 34 weeks
APAS
fetal hydrops detected at late 2nd trimester - pericardial effusion, mild ascites
Low Normal amniotic fluid and abnormal doppler
IUGR
Preeclampsia
Primary CS A,S 9,9

Mommy J was taken cared of by 2 Perinatologists. :) (Dr. Mindy Ocampo and me)

Sometimes Fetal Hydrops is NOT a Death sentence when diagnosed early, monitored and with therapeutic intervention.

14% with fetal hydrops spontaneously resolve. In Mommy J's case, cause for hydrops was investigated. Genetic testing for her amniotic fluid was done as well as non-immune and immune cause of hydrops. She was found to have APAS and referred to Immuno for comanagement.

Monitoring showed IUGR and abnormal doppler studies result, she underwent cesarean section. Our 🌈 preemie baby stayed in the NICU for 2 weeks and was able to go home.

Congratulations and welcome to sleepless nights to our 🌈 parents. ❤️

You shatter the statistics every single time you share your baby's story! Every single baby that beats the odds makes change!

You prove that these imaginary percentages of survival placed on these tiny unborn babies are just that.

Every baby that beats the odds paves the way for that doctor to value the life of the next fetal hydrops patient and offer treatment vs termination.

Because every baby deserves better! Share your story ❤️

Posting for a member, can those of you diagnosised at 14 weeks share your story or treatment options... like so many of you on here have experienced, her medical team is trying to scare her into giving up and aborting her little fighter. Her sweet baby is very active and has a strong heartbeat.

I was 34 weeks and started having decreased fetal movement. I went to L&D two days in a row for it, but baby passed the nonstress tests both times.
So I went for an already scheduled growth scan at 34 weeks 3 days. Up until this point, my pregnancy had been relatively anticlimactic.
During the ultrasound, the tech left the room and a doctor came in. They told me I was going to be sent upstairs to deliver my baby immediately & that she had hydrops fetalis. I had never heard of hydrops before this.
Colbie was born via emergency c section & immediately was intubated and placed on the oscillator & had two chest tubes placed. Her fluid was in her lungs & had skin edema.
She was in the NICU for 57 days. They later found a genetic cause for Colbie’s hydrops- Noonan Syndrome. She’s now 17 months and happy and relatively healthy!
