AAPA has signed the Coalition Letter Opposing the State Department’s Declaration to Revoke Visas of Chinese Students.

Repost from
« A coalition of over 60 organizations, led by , Asian American Scholar Forum (AASF), & , has issued a joint letter urging U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio to halt the implementation of the May 28 visa policy targeting Chinese international students.

The policy to « aggressively revoke » visas, including in undefined « critical fields, » hurts the safety and well-being of students, undermines our American values, and jeopardizes the nation’s academic, technological, and economic leadership.

We remain committed to ensuring that the United States remains a welcoming environment for Asian Americans and all communities. »

The Education and Training Committee (ETC) in collaboration with the AAPA Leadership Fellows Program is excited to invite you to an upcoming panel titled Therapist Self-Care as Social Justice Practice on Tuesday June 17th between 12-1pm Pacific Time (2 pm Central, 3 pm Eastern) via zoom.

We will be joined by Dr. Helen Hsu, Dr. Monique Kulkarni, Dr. Felice Chen, and Jyotsna (Joy) Dhar, MA., who will be sharing their experiences of engaging in self-care during the current sociopolitical climate. During the panel, panelists will share what has helped them stay grounded through different systemic obstacles and create space for community care and support.

As Asian and Asian American clinicians, we are holding space to support clients with intersecting historically marginalized identities while simultaneously having our own experiences within the current turbulent times. Many of us hold professional values of engaging in social justice and advocacy work in our clinician roles and this panel aims to create space for folks to reflect on how to continue engaging in this work especially during current times. Through this panel, we hope to create space for AAPA members to hear from our panelists across different stages of their career and experiences around how they engage in self and community care while supporting their clients, leading organizations they are a part of, and engaging in advocacy.

Please join us to hear from others and be in community around ongoing challenges and self-care in clinician work.

Please sign up at the link in our bio and see our flyer attached!

*Please note that this event is for AAPA Members only!

We are proud to join over 225 organizations in a collective statement of solidarity to oppose the racist 2025 Entry Ban announced by the Trump Administration.

Led by and UndocuBlack Network, w/ support from , this statement reflects solidarity across communities, issues, and movements across the United States. As the Administration implements this ban—targeting 19 countries, predominantly Black, Brown, Muslim-majority, and Global South nations—we join in raising our voices to say:
We oppose this ban. We support the communities it harms. We call for solidarity and action.

Our shared work spans immigrant rights, racial, gender, 2SLGBTQIA+, and economic justice. We will not remain silent in the face of policies that separate families, restrict access to safety and opportunity, and criminalize entire communities.
We call on legal and policy advocates, faith and civic leaders, community care providers and people of conscience to join us in taking action, showing up in solidarity, and defending those impacted.

NAAPIMHA and 110+ organizations celebrate the 5th Annual National Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander Mental Health Day to Raise Awareness of Mental Health in AANHPI Communities

On May 10, 2025, NAAPIMHA, cities, elected officials, community organizations, and businesses are commemorating the fifth annual National Asian American Pacific Islander Mental Health Day, a national day to raise awareness around mental health in Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AA & NHPI) communities.
National Asian American Pacific Islander Mental Health Day takes place at the intersection of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and Mental Health Awareness Month. This provides a unique opportunity to not only raise awareness around our diverse heritages and mental health, it gives us a chance to talk about how the two are directly related. It is important to continue addressing the many mental health challenges facing AA & NHPIs, but NAAPIMHA invites you to also join us in celebrating who we are as this TOO is mental health.
The national resolution stands on the shoulders of mental health advocates at RAMS, Inc. in San Francisco, who spearheaded the first statewide proclamation making May 10th Asian and Pacific American Mental Health Day in California in 2010. This year, the bicameral resolution will be introduced yet again in Congress. At the state and local level, AA & NHPI mental health advocates and organizations from 20+ states, counties, and cities have submitted proclamation requests. NAAPIMHA will be joined by over 110+ community partner organizations to center and support AA and NHPI mental health in communities nationwide. (More in comments)

Join us in celebrating National AANHPI Mental Health Day. Take the pledge to celebrate, sign up as a community partner, and invite your friends at: https://www.naapimha.org/aanhpimentalhealthday
