🍓 When your morning feels relaxed and good for the body and soul - it’s cuz you make overnight oats the day before 🍓
Super easy and perfect for the absentminded like me when kicks in, once it’s mixed you can just forget about it!!!
3 cups rolled oats
3 cups vanilla almond milk (unsweetened)
1/3 cup chia seeds
1 TBSP Vanilla Extract
Dash of Salt
Agave Syrup to Taste
Mix all the ingredients above in your dish, cover your dish and leave in the fridge... then forget about them - in the morning top with your choice of yoghurt (I used Vanilla Cultured Coconut Milk Yoghurt) and fresh berries/fruit (I used strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and figs)
Pour yourself a hot cup of tea/coffee, grab a book, and relax! Breakfast is made for the week!

Posted • It’s a really stressful time for parents everywhere but it’s important we keep the tone positive and safe for our kids. I often hear parents fight with their kids about sweets, and in my history, that only backfires down the line. When your kids are having a treat, be sure you foster a sense of satisfaction, appreciation and enjoyment. This will keep these moments special and memorable but never obsessive or controlling. That’s the goal! At least in my house for my family. Let me know if posts like this are helpful and I’ll be sure to share more!

Ella Fitzgerald was not allowed to perform in Hollywood's most popular nightclub, The Mocambo, because of her race & body size. Marilyn Monroe, who was a big fan, called the owner and explained that if he booked Ella, she would be there every night, which guaranteed huge press coverage. He booked Ella and Marilyn was there, front table, every single night as promised. Ella said, "After that, I never had to play a small jazz club again. She was an unusual woman, a little ahead of her time, and she didn’t even know it.”

In August 1968, the country was still reeling from the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. four months earlier, and the race riots that followed on its heels. Nightly news showed burning cities, radicals and reactionaries snarling at each other across the cultural divide.

A brand new children’s show out of Pittsburgh, which had gone national the previous year, took a different approach. Fred Rogers had met François Clemmons at a church service after hearing him sing, and asked him to join the show. Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood introduced Officer Clemmons, a black police officer who was a kindly, responsible authority figure, kept his neighborhood safe, and was Mr. Roger’s equal, colleague and neighbor.

A year later in 1969 when black Americans were still prevented from swimming alongside whites, Mr. Rogers invited Officer Clemmons to join him and cool his feet in a plastic wading pool, breaking a well-known color barrier. And there they were, brown feet and white feet, side by side in the water, silently, contemplatively, without comment. The episode culminated with Rogers drying off Clemmons’ feet. Most young kids were probably unaware of the real weight the episode carried, its scriptural overtones, but the image of a white man tending to the needs of a black man was seared in their minds nonetheless.

Twenty five years later, when François Clemmons retired, his last scene on the show revisited that same wading pool, this time reminiscing. Officer Clemmons asked Mr. Rogers what he’d been thinking during their silent interlude a quarter century before. Fred Rogers’ answer was that he’d been thinking of the many ways people say “I love you.”

In a world screaming out for tolerance, acceptance, kindness, and love - choose to be a Fred Rogers - because if more people could find a way to love others the way he did, without barriers, this world would be a much better place...

Posted • Who has seen the huge banana bread trend?? It’s everywhere! And while it may be a fine occasional treat, it shouldn’t be confused for bread. A typical slice of bread has 80-100 calories and 1-4g of fiber. You can lose lots of weight and be very healthy eating bread daily when paired well with protein. But banana bread typically has 250-400 calories and little to no fiber per slice. PLUS we all know it’s easy to eat the whole loaf within 2-3 days. ⁣

Another awesome alternative to using those leftover bananas is to make nice cream! This recipe below is taken from the blog and is awesome. Feel free to replace Shakeology with whatever flavor or alternative protein source you have. This is an awesome shift if you’re looking to slim down this summer. And if you want extra accountability, I’m hosting a new diet bet starting June 8th (link in bio)! Here’s the recipe..⁣

Makes 2 servings as part of a breakfast, 2-4 servings as a snacktional treat 😋⁣

Ingredients⁣
* 1 medium banana cut into chunks⁣
* ½ cup unsweetened almond milk⁣
* 2 scoops Shakeology (whey) Cafe Latte or whatever whey or vegan flavor you like⁣
* 1 Tbsp. cacao nibs⁣
Instructions⁣
1. Place banana in re-sealable plastic bag; freeze for 4 hours, or until completely frozen.⁣
2. Place banana, almond milk, and Shakeology in blender (or food processor); cover. Blend until smooth.⁣
3. Fold in cacao nibs; mix well.⁣
4. Serve immediately, or freeze in an airtight container up to five days until ready to eat.�⁣

Posted • How have you been feeling? If it’s anything like the left, I couldn’t recommend drinking more water enough! Of course you want to be eating lots of healthy delicious food when you’re hungry, but I always recommend starting with . Drinking water makes you full—so you’re less likely to give in to cravings, to overeat at meals, and to allow temptation to override your mindset. ⁣

This is key, as it works like a nutritional voice of reason, helping you make better decisions throughout the day. Here’s one way to visualize it: Take a 16-ounce water bottle in your hand and place it on your other hand, palm up, to see how naturally heavy it feels. Did it make your hand sink a bit? That really demonstrates the point that water adds a nice heaviness to the stomach, which gives you a sense of calm and satis- faction before eating your food, which also helps create a healthier relationship with food.⁣

It has many other health benefits as well, potentially helping you fight off headaches, according to research in the European Journal⁣
of Neurology, and improve your mood, according to a study in the journal Appetite.⁣

I always say that there are only 2 reasons why women get on the scale:⠀

1️⃣They feel good and are looking for the scale to validate that.⠀
2️⃣They feel bad and want the scale to make them feel bad enough to start a new diet⠀

What's the problem?⠀

✨Shame and self-loathing are terrible motivators ⠀
✨Weight is not a proxy for health⠀
✨You can be healthy (and unhealthy) in any body ⠀
✨You can't tell how healthy someone is by looking at them⠀
✨Putting the emphasis on weight detracts from the value of the behaviours that matter more!⠀

Your scale should not be your judge and jury. ⠀The stress of jumping on the scale, and worrying about what it will tell you isn’t good for your health either. ⠀
So, consider having a weigh-free May and see how you feel! have you ditched the scale? Comment below and share your experience. ⠀

I got out of the routine of a daily sweat session in the craziness of our life over the last 2 years and was incredibly inconsistent... but I’m so glad to have come back to my motivational spirit animal - 100 workouts, HERE I COME!!!
Super excited to prep the fridge and the nutritional plan this weekend for a great kickoff on Monday - and in the meantime I’m going to keep busting out the sample workout because it felt so dang good!

Honestly, I don’t have the answers - but I suspect it has a lot to do with your own relationship to food. How you speak about food and your body (even when you think they aren’t listening). And how you let them help in the kitchen, as well as experimenting with what’s actually on their plate to help them develop their palette...
Just remember - nobody’s perfect... and you can always try again fresh tomorrow!
