Celebrating 🎉 in style with 🤰 Lauren & Bump's 👶🏼 Second Trimester Move of the Day!
Side Lunge with an Iso-Curl 💪🏼
Lunges are great 👍🏻 for second trimester, if you've been cleared by your health professional to work out! They help strengthen your pelvic floor, as the lunging and squaring motions naturally contract and release those muscles! Plus, I'm told you use your legs A LOT when you're pushing that lil babe out - so getting some extra action in now will make the pushing much easier later!!!
Oh I'm not done yet - you're also packing an ab punch when you do lunges because you're working on core stability and balance. And trust me, by second trimester your balance can be thrown off pretty easily - so the key is to take it slow and worry about correct form than tons of reps!!!
And of course - we cannot forget those arms!!! Mamas, and mamas to be, you'll be cradling that babe for hours on end... doing an Iso-curl, or static hold, will help you build stamina and endurance in those muscles! The key with this one is to make sure your shoulders are rolled back and your shoulder blades are pressing toward one another. We have a tendency to hunch over, carrying our bumps and then our little ones, this will helps stretch you out, open up, and feel more alert and awake!!!
Remember to warm up and cool down before you do any exercise - this is even more important now that you're pregnant because your joints begin to loosen in second trimester and nobody wants an injury! Don't push your stretches, and take breaks whenever you need them! If you can speak a full sentence during your workout, you're going a little too hard for having two blood systems in your body!!!!

I seriously didn't feel like it today but baby is certainly showing me how happy they are that I did it anyways! Definitely have a little mover and shaker on our hands!!!

It's a brand new month, which means fresh beginnings! It's also #transformationtuesday which means it's time to reset my mindset!
I've taken the past two months to take care of me and baby bump - a very much needed time to find stability and learn what my body required and how to stay happy and healthy for baby 👶🏼. Sometimes we have to listen to our bodies and take a step back - that's exactly what I needed... THEN...
But NOW, now my body (refreshed and rejuvenated from daily walks, family time, hydration, and healthy eating) and my mindset (refocused and more determined than ever to continue my health journey for the sake of my bump and my bump's future) are ready to jump 100% ALL IN and put US first.
It's not just about me any more. I can see the bigger picture - or at least I can when my glasses aren't steamed up from a sweaty prenatal workout haha 😂- and that bigger picture has me taking care of myself, my bump, my family, my friends - and anyone and everyone else who is ready to come along for this incredible ride!!!
So let today be your inspiration to get up off that couch, even for 15 minutes... YOU deserve it 💕

I absolutely LOVE Leandro and the way he motivates you throughout the workout! But the best part???
He is ALL about the ladies in his class FEELING incredible, FEELING sexy while they dance, and having FUN! It's evident in the way he coaches you through the moves, and the way he speaks to you through the screen.
THIS is a creative and fun dance workout that left me feeling extremely EMPOWERED in my own skin!!!
I'd love to share this feeling of empowerment with you! And I bet my mum would say the same, eh Margaret Swaffer Shepherd??? It was a HUGE BLAST and it was low impact and specifically designed for people with mobility issues, or who are recovering from injury, or perhaps have never worked out before! And you guys know I'm no stranger to workouts - I've been coaching for a year now... but seriously?! I got super sweaty with this!!!

PiYo is my new jam YO! This was a great little upper workout to bust out and definitely gave me great posture while I tooled around the mall running my errands!
I never really paid much attention to my posture before - and even after only 3 days I am so much more in tune with my alignment than I ever was in theatre school! And that's saying something because we practiced alignment on a daily basis for hours at a time in performance and voice classes.
There's something about the way Chalene explains things that just clicks in your head and your body. You can help but move in the right ways! I just love it! I cannot wait to learn more... and I have a sneaking suspicion THIS will be my choice for LIVE instructor certification!

It's Day 1 of my 8 Week Summer Shred program and this coach is trying to find her bearings and get aligned - check out my little wiggle close the end! Haha
It's not about perfection - it's about finding your centre, finding alignment. As your body changes, whether you're becoming more or less fit, your balance changes to accommodate your new body. My centre of gravity has definitely changed since I started working out!
The leaner I become the less adjustments I need to make - however my body is used to making those adjustments. They've become like a habit and so breaking them is tricky - it's takes a lot of focus and a LOT of checking in with your body.
Listen to your body today!!!
Sometimes when you have a Morning of confusion, lost phones 📱, driving round in your pyjamas, fires at the end of your street, emergency response teams in your street, and have to leave your car at sobeys... you need the peacefulness of kitchen yoga. 🙏🏼
I love that I can workout anywhere and to anything. I love that I can work from home. And even though this morning didn't go as planned I love that my schedule is flexible enough that I didn't have to cancel my ME time or my teaching this afternoon.
When you wake up to a fire 🔥 in your street and on the one hand you're worried about whether anyone's hurt and on the other you're worried that you slept through at least 4 🚒 fire engines arriving, plus police 👮 and paramedics!
We are safe and warm in our home 🏡 keeping a watchful eye on the progress of this fire.

Motivation Monday! It's time to save money and time while getting healthy!
Here's the do it at home HACK that you'd be silly not to try!!!
I straight up needed focus today working out! My accountability group is in its FINAL WEEK and everything is starting to feel like it's 100 times harder than it was before!!! But I know I have an incredibly strong and resilient group of challengers who count on me to rock the focus game day in and day out!
I never ask them to do something I wouldn't do - so working out happened even though I tried all the excuses in the book 📚 because I am committed to results, and to my journey (which is always ongoing!).

Remember to WARMUP before you begin your workout! I didn't feel like working out today - I was tired, and not feeling in tip top form, and also really cold!
Cold muscles, ones that haven't been warmed and stretched, even gently, are prone to injury - so when you're feeling under the weather it's even MORE important to warm up and then take it easy through your workout!
It doesn't matter how FAST you go, just how RIGHT you go - what I mean is, it's not about barreling through everything it's about being consistent, steadfast, and accurate. Do it right and safe rather than sloppy and fast - you may have fewer reps and more modifications but you are training your muscles in the right ways, and proper form is far more important than speed any day.
Shoulder day - good thing I slept in today and rested up for this one!
My form is still wonky with my bum shoulder - I tend to overcompensate withy the other one... hmmm time to get those resistance bands out and tie them to the bannister for some physio I think!!!
I never would have thought to film my workouts before Beachbody. It's actually incredible how much I learn from watching myself in replay like this. It's a great reminder that even I need my own advice 😜 which is probably true for most.
I may appear to have everything put together, and figured out - but we have to remember that Facebook tends to be the highlight reel... it's super important to see the REALITY reel in order to understand someone's truth. And my truth is that I really struggle with shoulder day. I struggle with shoulder stability. And I often don't post pictures and videos is those exercises because I don't always have perfect form... it's something I'm self-conscious of because my role is to serve others, inspire others, and help people move more!
And yet, I think it's useful for you to know I have my struggles too. This is one of the shortest workouts in the program I'm doing but I find it the hardest because I have to focus on my form so frequently and am constantly readjusting. So please if you're worried about your workouts because you too are constantly readjusting your form to get it right - know that you are not alone! And that what you're doing is so incredibly important!

I've had a bit of a busy day with teaching and planning my challenge groups, hanging with my hubby Michael while he was on call (because sometimes you need a Friday night dinner date!!!), and catching up with life!
And even though today was "rest day" from Body Beast - I cannot go a day without some form of exercise. Today I chose to save it til after dinner to help me release the tension of the day! So I turned to Faith and the Yoga Studio on Beachbody OnDemand.
Do you know how often I hear people say they aren't flexible enough to do yoga?
I bet you probably silently agreed with that thinking that you aren't flexible enough...
Well guess what - YOGA is actually a great way to increase your flexibility while finding acceptance and Mindfulness. This 11 minute Release the Tension routine has got me chillin out max, an relaxin all cool 😎 🏀 🎶
Sometimes a rest day is a great blessing because it opens you up to more options to ease your physical aches and pains, while serving your spirit.
