"How, you might ask?" That's a great question! :-)
Bacteria from the mouth travels down the vagus nerve (cranial nerve 10) to the gut. In fact, bacteria can travel bi-directionally.
"What does this mean?"
You might find Streptococcus mutans (an oral bacteria) affecting the heart, meninges, vertebrae, liver system and prosthetic joints.
We can combat this bacteria with:
> good oral hygiene: brushing at least 2 times/day, flossing
> rinsing with baking soda and salt water mixture (anti-microbial effects)
> using probiotic mouthwash
> taking probiotics to support healthy gut flora
Keep in mind flora travels in 2 directions so by ingesting probiotics for the gut then it will also help with the oral health.

Did you know Gut Infections can cause IBS-like symptoms?
I see this all the time. For example, having a E. coli infection often causes diarrhea. One category of IBS includes diarrhea as a symptom.
Want to know something else that is crazy? I have seen patients where the E. coli infection was more than 10 years old. Meaning they had diarreha symptoms for over 10 years with no resolution.
So what do I do when the the Gut is out of balance? I do a thorough intake with history and determine the origin of the problem. I treat infections first and monitor what other symptoms resolve. Then we get to the nitty gritty.

Herbal medicine! What's in your herbal cabinet?
What do you eat in a typical day? How many of your items come from a box or some type of packaging?
I ask these questions because many people have gut problems such as gas, bloating, diarrhea, constipation or even more significant like H. pylori, SIBO or gut infections from past food poisoning.
What happened if I suggested that you'll feel better only eating foods that you'd be able to find in the field just like people did over 60 years ago. If you doubt what I'm suggesting, then try an experiment and record how you feel.

Why is FUN important?
It might seem like and obvious question and yet if we look at it from a vibrational point of view the answer is less obvious.
Typcially, when have FUN they are smiling, laughing and less tense. These activities increase vibration. As the vibration is elevated the chakras begin to open allowing for me creativity. The increase in vibration is so important in terms of building resiliance to stress and being less suseptible to other's bad moods.

Who loves coffee?
For those of us that like coffee it’s often about the flavour.
Two other really important qualities I consider are: organic and free of mold.
Here’s the catch. Not a single company that I know of reports their coffee as being mold free. The only way you’d know is to call the company and obtain a 3rd party test.
Mold leaves something called mycotoxins which are hugely disruptive to the body and get misdiagnosed.

How are you present in your daily life?
I was listening to a talk by Eckhart Tolle when he said “you do not know a flower until you experience a flower for it’s essence.”
I’ve contemplated this a lot. I believe what he’s getting at is the idea of presence.
Presence is beyond our perception of objects, places and things because those are based on the senses.
Essence is the energy and imprint something carries within itself.
It seems a bit elusive. Consider walking in a room. You are instantly drawn towards some people and not others. Your body has read the room and people.

How do you get energy for the day?
Most of the time my go-to is coffee, sometimes tea and sometimes liquid vitamins.
Vitamins seem benign. I find that’s the case when they are poor quality.
When you’re taking High quality vitamins, you’ll notice a difference in energy and how you feel.
Think of it this way... if you buy cheap vitamins you’re creating very expensive urine.
I really dislike people needlessly wasting their money. So yes, some vitamins cost more and the benefit is better Health, longer life and more energy.

One herb that is used for heartburn is called slippery elm. This might be an herb that you are less familiar with, but can be effective for this uncomfortable medical condition.
Slippery elm is a type of tree, but the entire tree isn’t used for an herbal remedy. It is just the inner part of the bark that has health benefits. This part of the bark is used for many different medical conditions, from diarrhea and constipation, to urinary tract infections and bladder problems.
It is very effective at many different digestion issues, and yes, can help with some cases of heartburn.
The way it helps is that the extract from the inner tree bark of slippery elm can help to give you a thicker lining in your stomach, helping to protect it against acid in the future. This is why it is typically recommended as a long-term remedy for those with chronic heartburn, as opposed to just being given if you get acute cases of it.

It’s true. There is a significant cost savings to the patient. The conventional medical machine is like any other business. It’s all about time and money.
Your conventional doctor is unlikely to spend a significant amount of time making a diet and exercise plan with you. It’s far faster, and ultimately lucrative, to give you a prescription and kick you out the door. They can see more patients that way.

Limiting Incoming Noise
Access to the internet has brought a lot into our world: convenience, social networking, the ability to work from home from just about anywhere. But with it comes and extraordinary amount of stress.
It’s impossible to focus on your own personal downtime every day, even if it’s just an hour away from the chaos of business life.
There’s only so long you can move at a rapid pace before getting burnt out.
Set a time each day for digital detox up limit incoming noise. Try to take some time to sit in silence and recharge.

5 Myths about Depression in Men
This is all about perspective of how men and women relate to emotions.
1) Emotions are seen as a sign of weakness
Do you remember growing up and seeing your parents say, "boy's don't cry"? When I was growing up boys had to show strength and one of those signs of strength was to keep their feelings to themselves or to demonstrate outward aggression by hitting or swearing at something but never talking about the emotion that was present.
2) Men should be able to control their emotions
In order to not react, it often means that ignoring the emotions all together. Often when I work with patients, this shows up as tension throughout the whole body. I.e. trying to keep everything locked up.
3) Talking about depression won't help.
Research suggests that talk therapy is outdated. From my perspective, talking about the issue attracts more energy to it. What we focus on, we get more of. That being said, it is important to identify the SOURCE of the depression. The source is like a root. When we pull it out, much of the energy surrounding the root ceases and we're no longer drained by the source.
4) Real men don't ask for help
We need to qualify this... 'help with their emotions'. From my perspective, many men have not been given the tools to talk about emotions. A sub layer to this is being worried about what other men will think if they do share their emotions. How will it be perceived?
5) Depression will be a burden to others
This is like saying, I won't call my mom/dad because I don't want to bother them. Of course, we don't want to dump our negative energy onto others. However, when we come from a place of sharing and vulnerability it offers an opening for healing and connectedness. Those of us who listen are generally good at not taking on other's problems.
