Physicians for Reproductive Health (PRH), a network of doctors across the country, works to improve access to comprehensive reproductive health care. We do this by mobilizing and educating clinicians, speaking with the media, and advocating with our policy makers to achieve a vision of patient-centered health care that is safe, supported, and accessible.

Yesterday, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals heard oral arguments in the EMTALA case, US v. Idaho and Moyle.

Our CEO & President Dr. Jamila Perritt said it best: “As medical professionals, we know abortion is health care because we see it every day. We treat it everyday. Lawmakers and courts cannot replace the depth of understanding required to deliver health care in moments of crisis. Yet, they increasingly dictate if, when, and how we can provide life-saving care.

We urge the Ninth Circuit to uphold EMTALA’s clear mandate that hospitals must stabilize emergencies, including those requiring abortion care. The lives of our patients, especially those with intersected marginalized identities, depend on it.”

The science on gender-affirming hormone therapy has always been clear. We will be too: the provision of gender-affirming care, including hormone therapies and puberty blockers, is rooted in evidence based practices backed by every major medical association. Trans youth need and deserve this care.

Trans youth deserve to grow up and thrive in a world that affirms their right to health care autonomy. The Court needs to side with science, trust, freedom, and justice. It must.

Birth control is there for us when we want to prevent pregnancy, stop our periods, or curb menstruation-related migraines.
