Lady Warrior Lady Warrior Workouts To Look Fit and Live Fit. Warriors Wanted

I took 1st place at Hyrox Las Vegas in my age group.
But here’s the truth…

This wasn’t about beating anyone else.
It was about answering the voice in my head that asked,
“Can you push harder?”
“Can you stay disciplined?”
“Can you execute when it counts?”

It was about focusing on what I was capable of.
Not what the woman next to me was lifting.
Not what anyone else’s pace looked like.
Just me. My training. My discipline. My work.

Early mornings.
Consistency when it wasn’t exciting.
Showing up when nobody was watching.

That’s what built this.

Strength isn’t just physical.
It’s mental. It’s emotional. It’s choosing to stay in it when it would be easier to coast.

And maybe the most important part?
My daughter got to watch.

She got to see that women don’t expire.
We don’t age out of competing.
We don’t shrink ourselves because a number changes.

We get stronger.
We get smarter.
We get more focused.

You don’t have to chase what everyone else is doing.
You don’t have to compare your chapter to someone else’s highlight reel.

Focus on what you’re capable of.
Build your body. Train your mind.
Stay in your lane.

You might surprise yourself with what you can accomplish.

This is just the beginning.

If lifting heavy automatically made women bulky, we’d see women walking around unintentionally muscular all the time.

But we don’t.

Because building muscle is hard. It’s slow.
It requires progressive overload, enough protein, enough food (not chronic dieting), and consistency for months — usually years.

Muscle doesn’t just happen to women.
Especially not in midlife.

And here’s what’s really happening during perimenopause:

Estrogen declines.
Muscle protein synthesis becomes less efficient.
We lose muscle faster than we gain it.
Metabolism slows partly because lean mass is decreasing.

So the real risk isn’t “getting bulky.”
It’s losing the very tissue that keeps you metabolically healthy.

Muscle is what protects your metabolism.
Your bones.
Your blood sugar.
Your brain.
Your strength.
Your ability to move, function, and stay independent as you age.

The goal was never to get smaller.
The goal is to stay strong enough to live your life well.

We don’t lift to become bodybuilders.
We lift so we don’t become fragile.

Strong is protective. Muscle is insurance.

Today isn’t about going hard.
It’s about going smart.

Recover.
Heal this sinus infection.
Fuel properly.
Soak up the sunshine.
Keep my dog moving.

And behind the scenes?
Build my HYROX NY strategy.

Because wins aren’t just built in the grind.
They’re built in the reflection.
In the planning.
In the days you choose discipline over drama.

Midlife athlete energy means knowing when to push…
and when to recover so you can push harder later.

NY, I’m coming prepared. 🗽🔥

Not every day feels strong.

Some days feel heavy.
Some days the energy isn’t there.
Some days the weight you’re carrying isn’t in the gym — it’s in your head, your heart, your life.

And today… I’m not at my best.

But here’s what I’m learning (and reminding myself):
Being strong doesn’t mean pushing through everything without emotion.
Being strong means allowing yourself to be human.
It means pausing.
It means feeling it.
Yes… even crying if you need to.

Because resilience isn’t built by pretending we’re okay.
It’s built by honoring where we are — and showing back up when we can.

If you’re in a season like this, you’re not broken.
You’re not failing.
You’re just living.

And tomorrow, we try again. 🤍

Your metabolism isn’t slow.

It’s responding to the signals it’s given.
In perimenopause, eating less and doing more
sends the wrong message.

Strength training sends the right one.
Save this if you’re done fighting your body 💜
