EIGHT THINGS THAT CAN DESTROY KIDNEYS
Your kidneys work 24/7 to filter waste, balance fluids, and keep your body running smoothly hence Osmoregulation (Homeostasis). But some daily habits can damage them without you even realising it and that is the much need to pay attention to this message.

Here are eight things that can silently destroy your kidneys:
1. High Blood Pressure
When your blood pressure is consistently high, it puts extra strain on your kidneys. Over time, this damages the small blood vessels, making it harder for them to filter waste properly.
2. High Blood Sugar
Diabetes is a leading cause of kidney failure. Excess sugar in the blood damages kidney filters, leading to protein loss in urine and, eventually, kidney disease.
3. Abuse of painkillers
Drugs like Felvin, Ibuprofen, and Diclofenac (NSAIDs) can damage your kidneys when used excessively or for long periods. They reduce blood flow to the kidneys, increasing the risk of failure.
4. Alcohol
Frequent heavy drinking dehydrates the body and overworks the kidneys. Alcohol also raises blood pressure, which increases the risk of kidney damage.
5. Smoking
Smoking restricts blood flow to the kidneys, making it harder for them to function. It also increases the risk of kidney disease and worsens conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes.
6. Agbo and Herbal Concoctions
Many people assume herbal drinks are safe, but some contain toxic substances that can harm the kidneys. Without proper regulation, these mixtures can lead to kidney failure.
7. High Salt intake
Too much salt raises blood pressure and forces the kidneys to work harder. Over time, this can damage the kidney’s filtering ability and lead to complications.
8. Poorly treated urine infections
Ignoring urinary tract infections (UTIs) or not treating them properly can lead to kidney infections. Frequent kidney infections increase the risk of long-term kidney damage.

MALE CHROMOSOMES COMPLIMENT
This simply means the whole set of chromosomes for a human male. The large majority of males have a 46,XY chromosome complement: 46 chromosomes, including 1 X and 1 Y chromosome. A minority of males have other chromosome constitutions, such as 47,XXY (47 chromosomes, including 2 X chromosomes and 1 Y chromosome) or 47,XYY (47 chromosomes, including 1 X and 2 Y chromosomes).

Presents:

MENSTRUAL MIGRAINE
This is a migraine headache that affects a woman each month between the 2nd day before the commencement of the menstrual period and the end of menstruation. Menstrual migraine is different from nonmenstrual attacks of migraine, even in the same women, in the regularity of its timing and its greater severity. Compared with other times in the menstrual cycle, a migraine is more than twice as likely to occur during the first 3 days of menstruation and more than three times as likely to be severe.

1. A severe, disabling headache, that usually affect only one side of the head;
2. Nausea and vomiting;
3. Photophobia and visual disturbances.

Prophylactic treatment with a triptan for 6 days beginning 2 days before the anticipated start of the menstrual migraine reduces the incidence of migraine by at least a half.
: the triptans act as agonists for 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) receptors: ✓ Sumatriptan (Imitrex),
✓ Rizatriptan (Maxalt),
✓ Naratriptan (Amerge),
✓ Zolmitriptan (Zomig),
✓ Eletriptan (Relpax),
✓ lmotriptan (Axert),
✓ Frovatriptan (Frova).

Presents:

ANDROGEN INSENSITIVITY SYNDROME (AIS)
This is a genetic disorder that makes XY feotuses insensitive (unresponsive) to androgens (male hormones). Instead, they are born looking externally like normal girls. Internally, there is a short blind-pouch va**na and no uterus, fallopian tubes or ovaries. There are te**es in the abdomen or the inguinal canal.
Normally, a male-to-be foetus had inherited X-chromosome from the mother and Y-chromosome from the father which begins to manifest from the 6th months of the gestation period (of conception).

The complete androgen insensitivity syndrome is usually detected at puberty when a girl should but does not begin to menstruate. Many of the girls with the syndrome have no p***c or axillary (armpit) hairs. They have luxuriant scalp hair without temporal (male-pattern) balding. They are sterile and cannot bear children in future. They are at high risk for osteoporosis and so should take oestrogen replacement therapy.

The gene for the syndrome is on the X chromosome in band Xq11-q12. The gene codes for the androgen receptor (the dihydrotestosterone receptor). This gene is mutant in the complete androgen insensitivity syndrome. Because of the mutation, the cells cannot respond to androgen. If a woman has the mutation on one of her X chromosomes, the risk for each of her XY offspring to receive the gene and have the syndrome is one-half (50%).

There are also partial androgen insensitivity syndromes. They usually result in micropen*s with hypospadias and gynecomastia (male breast development). These conditions (which include a disorder called Reifenstein syndrome) are also due to mutations in the androgen receptor gene.

The complete androgen insensitivity syndrome was once referred to as testicular feminization (TFM). The name "complete androgen insensitivity syndrome" is scientifically accurate and is more satisfactory to patients and their families.
