Savannah Fountain
Guess what's up and running in Savannah? The fountain out front! It's been at least a decade since the lights have worked and a year or two since the fountain was founting, mainly due to a bad motor and calcium deposits on everything. Now it's going strong, thanks to the hard work of a few employees.

Jean Ross Deming
After graduating from high school in Bolivar, Tennessee, Jean Ross Deming went on to attend Lambuth University where she played basketball and tennis as well as being a cheerleader. Upon leaving Lambuth, she enrolled at the University of Memphis, receiving her Bachelors degree from there before going on to get her Masters from Troy University. Then she spent the next 37 1/2 years teaching across three states. A true southern lady in every sense of the word, she used her talents to better the lives of those around her, not only through education but also through her service with the First United Methodist Church in Henderson, Tennessee. When she died on January 6th, her family wanted to honor her legacy while keeping those safe who wanted to do the same. So they held a drive through visitation in Bolivar Memorial Cemetery in Bolivar, Tennessee, lining the drive with her pictures and greeting all who came to pay their respects. With the family's permission, we wanted to share their tribute with you.
Honey, I'm Home!
Across the backyard of the funeral home in Savannah is a rental house that is currently having some work done on the inside. Recently, the nice gentleman doing the painting had an uninvited guest literally crash through the kitchen window. TWRA was contacted and instructions received . . . if the hawk is uninjured, just shoo it out the window . . . or door. Easier said than done, but we're pleased to report the hawk and the painter survived unscathed with the hawk eventually flying out the back door and into a nearby tree. The window sill was not so fortunate.
John Wayne Austin funeral procession
John Wayne Austin was a truck driver for over 22 years, and when he retired he still needed something to keep him busy and on the road . . . or the water. So he took up farming. And fishing. And riding his motorcycle. All things he loved to do . . . but not as much as he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. On Sunday, August 23rd, his family arranged one more trip for him, taking him to Beauty Hill Cemetery in a mode of transportation he had used so many times before. With their permission we wanted to share their tribute with you.
