Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DOs) believe there’s more to good health than the absence of pain or disease. They don’t see patients. They see people.

Join the community celebrating osteopathic physicians and their distinct approach to medical care! DOs are trained to promote the body’s natural tendency toward health and self-healing. They practice according to the latest science and technology, but also consider options to complement pharmaceuticals and surgery. DOs strive to help patients be truly healthy in mind, body and spirit. Meet Vani Ganesh, OMS III at Midwestern University, and a proud first‑generation DO student.
Raised in an Indian family rooted in whole‑body care, Vani found a natural connection to osteopathic medicine. With most of her relatives in India, she’s navigated medical school without family in the field — and hopes her story empowers others with similar paths.

“I think having a different cultural background helps you understand patients on a deeper level,” she says.
