Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DOs) believe there’s more to good health than the absence of pain or disease. They don’t see patients. They see people.

Join the community celebrating osteopathic physicians and their distinct approach to medical care! DOs are trained to promote the body’s natural tendency toward health and self-healing. They practice according to the latest science and technology, but also consider options to complement pharmaceuticals and surgery. DOs strive to help patients be truly healthy in mind, body and spirit. AOA trustee John J. Kalata, DO, says physicians remain among the nation’s most trusted professions, according to Gallup, though trust has slipped as medical misinformation spreads. He notes that patients are overwhelmed by conflicting information, making it harder to separate fact from myth and adding strain to the physician-patient relationship.

Edward Hosbach, DO, says a new study confirms what many primary care physicians experience — managing a full patient panel takes more than a 40-hour workweek, especially with rising patient complexity and digital communication demands. He adds that while tools like AI can streamline charting and improve care quality, they don’t eliminate the growing burden placed on physicians.
