We’re excited to welcome Dr Maxine Francisco to the Village Health family 🤍

Dr Maxine is a dedicated GP and proud mom of one, with a special interest in women’s health, geriatrics, and aesthetics. She completed her MBChB at the University of Pretoria, followed by her internship at King Edward VIII Hospital in Durban, and her community service year at Helen Joseph Hospital in Johannesburg, where she gained valuable experience in general medicine and geriatrics. She has also completed her botulinum toxin training in Stellenbosch.

Dr Maxine is passionate about providing holistic, patient-centred care. While she has a strong interest in caring for elderly patients, she enjoys treating patients of all ages—and has a special soft spot for little ones too!

She looks forward to meeting you and supporting you on your journey to better health and wellness at Village Health 🌿

We’re so excited to welcome Rachel Carey to our Village Health family!🌿

Rachel is a highly experienced paediatric occupational therapist with over 20 years of experience working with children and their families. After qualifying at the University of Cape Town, she completed her community service in Pietermaritzburg and went on to gain valuable international experience in the United Kingdom, working in both paediatric brain injury and community paediatric occupational therapy.

For the past 11 years, Rachel has been based in Ballito, where she has become a trusted and familiar face in the community. Her passion lies in supporting children to reach their full potential while working closely with families every step of the way.

We are truly thrilled to have her join our multidisciplinary team and know she will be an incredible asset to our Village Health community 💚

👁️ Glaucoma Awareness 💫

This week we’re shining the spotlight on Glaucoma Awareness Week, a global initiative to raise awareness about one of the leading causes of preventable blindness.

Our optometrist, Andile Pieterson, shares important information in the video below about what glaucoma is, who is at risk, and why regular eye exams are so important.

Glaucoma often develops slowly and without noticeable symptoms in the early stages, which means many people don’t realise they have it until vision loss has already occurred. Early detection through routine eye tests can make all the difference.

✨ A Little Pause for a Big Adventure! ✨

We always knew this day was coming… and now the countdown is officially on! 👶

Dr Geordi Nunes will be heading off on maternity leave from 20 March as she prepares to welcome her little one. While we are so excited for her during this very special time, we are definitely going to miss her smiling face around the practice!

We wish her all the best as she enjoys this beautiful new chapter with her growing family. 💚
