Immediate Implant Rehabilitation – Completed in 24 Hours

This case demonstrates the power of carefully planned, fully guided implant surgery with a complete digital workflow.

Planning – Digital implant planning ensured predictable outcomes and optimal support for the bridge.

Surgery – Fully guided implant placement, final abutment connection, and selective grafting were all completed in under 2 hours.

Restoration – Within 24 hours, the patient received a long-term provisional, implant-supported fixed bridge – restoring both function and aesthetics.

Photos highlight:

1) Digital planning of the implants and surgical guide.

2) Pre- and post-surgery radiographs.

3) The design of the provisional restoration.

4) The immediate transformation – from pre-op to a confident new smile.

This marks the completion of the first phase of treatment. Next, we will turn our focus to the lower arch before moving on to the definitive restorations.

Detailed Planning to Precision Placement: A Full-Arch Transformation at Arch Dentistry

Every element of this rehabilitation — from digital diagnostics and surgical guide design to implant placement and final prosthetic delivery — was conceived and completed at Arch Dentistry.

Using CBCT and CoDiagnostix planning software, I was able to visualise and plan ideal implant and abutment positions prior to surgery. The design of the final implant-supported bridge greatly influences the angle, rotation and depth of implant positioning - a part of case planning I particularly enjoy.

Surgical precision was achieved using a fully guided protocol, with guide stabilisation via a palatal anchor and two fixation pins. This enabled efficient implant placement and correct multi-unit abutment orientation at the time of surgery — laying the foundation for a passive, screw-retained provisional.

This case reflects my treatment philosophy - the synergy between surgery and prosthetics is where predictable, long-term outcomes begin.

Bridging Academia and Private Practice

One of the most inspiring aspects of implant dentistry is the constant evolution of techniques, materials, and clinical protocols — all grounded in rigorous research and shared global expertise.

The Forum Implantologicum, published by the ITI, remains one of my go-to sources for peer-reviewed, implant-specific literature. It's a rich resource for staying up to date with the latest evidence-based insights from across the world.

As a clinician, I believe deeply in the importance of bringing academic principles into private practice — not just to improve outcomes, but to elevate patient care in a meaningful and lasting way. Reading, learning, applying — that’s the cycle that drives me.

Precision Planning to Precision Placement

This was a rewarding full-arch case that perfectly demonstrates how meticulous digital planning and guided implant surgery can streamline even the most complex rehabilitations.

Guide stability is key to achieving consistent, accurate implant positioning. I use a palatal anchor and two bi-cortically stabilized pins to ensure minimal micromovement during surgery.

Planning extends beyond implant positions — final multi-unit abutments are placed at the time of surgery. The guide indicates each implant’s indexed rotation, allowing precise orientation of each abutment to the internal connection. This step not only saves time, but directly contributes to a passively fitting prosthesis with optimal screw access.

Case overview:

1) Atraumatic removal of remaining teeth and failed implants

2) 6 Straumann BLX implants placed via fully guided protocol

3) Final multi-unit abutments placed and scanned

4) Provisional screw-retained prosthesis delivered

Total surgical time: 2 hours
Total appointment time: 3 hours

A true showcase of digital precision from planning to prosthesis.

Digital Precision in Full Mouth Rehabilitation

In a landmark case I transformed my patient’s oral health using fully guided implant surgery and CAD design software.

Treatment Objective: Our goal was to eradicate infection and disease, restoring function swiftly. Six fully-guided implants were placed and immediately restored with implant-supported prosthesis in both upper and lower jaws. These were later converted to final zirconia framework prosthesis as healing allowed, with a total treatment timeline of eight months.

Comments: This was a very special case, a fully digitally-planned upper and lower implant rehabilitation, showcasing the power of digital implant-surgery planning and CAD design software.
