Most women experience some form of breast problem in their lifetime.

Common issues include breast pain, ni**le discharge, breast skin abnormalities, breast lumps and obvious asymmetry.

These common breast issues could be a sign of something serious or the cause could be just hormonal or developmental.

The only way to differentiate is to have your breast examined and assessed by a specialist.

There are various tests and scans that can be performed to determine the cause of your breast problem. Most of these issues can be easily treated by a breast specialist.

A gastroscopy is a procedure that lets a doctor look at the inner lining of the upper digestive tract.

The upper digestive tract includes the esophagus (the tube than connects the mouth to the stomach), the stomach, and the duodenum (the first part of the small intestine).

It is a quick procedure that takes place in hospital. You are given some sedation, so you won’t feel any discomfort or remember anything.

Gastroscopy is done for various reasons-
* Pain in your upper belly that you cannot explain
* A condition called “acid reflux”
* Nausea and vomiting that has lasted a long time
* Diarrhea that has lasted a long time
* Abnormal bowel movements or black tar-like stools.
* Blood in your vomit or stools.
* Trouble swallowing or a feeling of food getting stuck in your throat
* Unexplained anaemia

A gastroscopy can help diagnose or rule out stomach cancer, stomach ulcers, hiatus hernias, oesophageal cancer, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease and many other GIT conditions.

A comprehensive breast consultation involves a full risk assessment, extensive examination, and imaging. Your specialist will order one of the following investigations ;
a mammogram. This is a specialized breast x-ray
a breast ultrasound. This is usually done together with the mammogram
a breast MRI. In some cases a specialized scan of the breast is required
an ultrasound-guided biopsy of a suspicious area in your breast.

After pregnancy your pelvic floor is weakened.

Most of the time pelvic floor muscles can be strengthened with specific exercises, but for some women with severe prolapse surgery is needed.

Prolapse may cause the following symptoms-

Difficulty with urination
Chronic constipation
Pain during s*x
A feeling of heaviness or fullness in your pelvis
A feeling that something is bulging out of your va**na, or difficulty inserting tampons
Lower back pain

Gallstones are very common, they occur more in women than men.

Most people with gallstones have no symptoms, but some may experience-

1. Biliary colic (an intense, dull discomfort or pain in the upper right abdomen area, associated with nausea and vomiting)
2. Atypical symptoms such as belching, early fullness after meals, bloating, heartburn and regurgitation.

Some people with gallstones develop complications-

1. cholecystitis- inflammation and infection of the gallbladder
2. Choledocholithiasis- obstruction of your liver ducts by your gallstones
3. Gallstone pancreatitis- inflammation of your pancreas due to your gallstones

These are serious surgical emergencies.

We recommend that your gallstones and gallbladder be surgically removed if you have experienced any of the above symptoms or complications.

Removal of the gallbladder is mostly performed laparoscopically (key-hole surgery) with minimal scarring and less post-op pain.
